I was working on a Battle Blade Bumblebee, to make him less blocky in the shoulders, and with an attempt to segment the car nose gone horribly wrong I ordered 2 more clearance Bees, one to replace the front end, and the other 2 to customize into other new characters, and have a story for their non movie appearance roles in the war. Since the old Bee front end was disfigured, I figured since there are Trans-Am concept pics floating around based on Camaro from the now defunct Pontiac, I decided to make one guy a Trans-Am. And I am currently in the process of resclupting the Camaro parts into TA parts (you'll notice the black paint on one). I made GIMP mock-ups of the 2 new guys in their G1 colors..... Smokescreen & Rad will be Bee's (actual voice using) Brothers. Although the mock-up of Smokescreen was using Bee's pic, SS will not have arm guards, but I will use the holes left behind for weapon placements. Anyway that is my current WIP's along with a few of the Generations molds being Wheeljack, and Red Alert. These are going to take a while to get done. I tried to give each character his own unique configuration of parts at least on their chests, I split Blue's hood into 3 sections and glued the center part of the hood tip onto the center scoop section, so that the outer parts could rotate inward, since his nose section was confined to one piece now, to make up for that. Smokescreen got his thigh guards shortened, and the other pieces attached to the quarter panels of the car. Anyway, that is that, and you can see better in the pics what each one has different that the other 2. EDIT: I will making Rad, instead of Bluestreak. The Bumblebee head will be modified by cutting off the horns / antennae on his helmet and a jazz like visor made to go over the eyes, and a mouth sculpted in...Smokescreen will have a mouth as well. Rad's WIP form.....(this head will go to Smokescreen, the other head will be sculpted to resemble a movie version of Rad.
I didn't want all that silver on a movie figure of mine, to me Sideswipe looks too monochrome in the movies being all silver, that's why I am going this way. Besides Diaclone streak never gets enough love. I mean I know G1 Streak, had red / maroon, and a few parts dark grey, but still not enough to break up all the silver he would have. I do think I will paint his knee and calf sections silver though, instead on blue to break up all the blue on the legs.
I like the HFTD Bee the best of any Bee mold, I really don't like many of the DOTM molds. I did get Cyberfire Bumblebee, as far as bot mode goes not the greatest to me, I only bought it for the black redeco, and the fact it was packaged in Camaro mode, which of the mold I do like. I do plan on trying to incorporate a rear spoiler on Smokescreen.
Update: I decided to Scrap Bluestreak, and give G1 Action Master Rad, an actual transforming figure, as well as a Classics Update, using RTS Jazz, with a modified head. So all of these will be coming soon.....new pic of Rad's new Pontiac alt mode in first post.
Why?, there are pics of the bots in wip form with Bumblebee, the mock-ups are added pics to show what the final product will look like. I'm not the only one to do so, besides I put the mock-ups here, because I have no idea how long these things will take to do, and I wanted to show what I had in mind for the look of the new guys.
It's just you as the artist has clearly shown his physical alterations in wip photos. If you're in doubt, report the post () instead of making this type of post. Thanks!
