So I just took a look at the bottom of the Movie Trilogy Series Optimus Prime box. It had a few toys shown as "also available". What a tease. Nice picture of Soundwave. Too bad that picture is as close as most folks will get to one.

I'm annoyed by the cancelling of the Trilogy deluxe line, but doing cross promotion for products that will never be released here is pretty crappy.

That does feel like a rather blatant kick-in-the-nuts.

lol Yeah, I noticed that, too. At least we got the red Ratchet on there.

Not much they can do about it, though. Not worth wasting the money of printing up new boxes. That would just be more money taken away from future toys.

I had a little laugh when I saw that, because I'm not interested in any of them.

It's also kinda funny when you remember the same thing happened with Animated, the line the movies killed.

I came here to make a new thread, but I think my question fits here..

All the fuss about Deluxe Leadfoot's cancellation... What ever happened to a Human Alliance Topspin?? We never saw a prototype, right? Was he planned or even mentioned by Hasbro at all??

I thought the Animated toys not selling killed the Animated line.

There was never one planned at all. I believe this belief that there was something about a HA Topspin is the legacy of Shadow the fraud.

If there was a HA Topspin planned, then we may never know it and it won't be coming out anyways.

Is it? Okay. All those Ratchets look alike to me. It's the DotM Deluxe, right? What's different about it?

Hasbro creating the HUB is largely what killed Animated (a Cartoon Network show). Also the reason why we never got Season 3 on DVD and why the first two seasons quickly became unavailable on DVD.

Yeah, that too. We can say it was a confluence of unfortunate events. My point was just that the failure of the Animated line can't just be laid at the Bay movies' doorstep. There were other factors as well, some of which may have played a bigger part. People just like to blame the movies for everything.

If I recall correctly, it was more along the lines of "Rescue Ratchet" (mainly G1 white with red details) instead of the almost fully red Specialist Ratchet. Nothing special in any case.

Packaging was done before the decision to pull the plug was made. These things happen.

Like when Titanium Grimlock and Prowl eventually made it to TRU was exclusives. Their boxes had cross-sells for Titanium Primal Prime and Soundblaster that we knew well ahead of time weren't ever going to be released.

I'd... have to see him again, but I was looking at a DotM Deluxe Ratchet in TRU yesterday that I thought was mostly white with some red. I don't have a lot of interest in him, but it caught my eye because they had none of the regular green & white (although they did have a couple of the ugly scan series).

Yeah, that must have been him. Okay. But like I said, movie Ratchet never really did anything for me. I honestly thought the picture on the bottom of the Trilogy box was that Specialist Ratchet.
