I'll go ahead and tell Bay that it's OK to go ahead with his ideas of making Megatron turn into a floating hand, having a tiny Transformer turn into a skateboard for an annoying kid who's always around, and having small hellicopter Transformers dock onto the back of cars.

 

You know, the ark wouldent have to crash on earth. They allready have the transformers on mars from the trailer, they could have had it crash there, heck, it could have been the face looking thing in that famous satalite pic.

 

The ark was a unique element of G1 that it seems confusing that the movies creators are ignoring. There have been a lot of cool themes to show up in the cartoons over the years, but these movie guys are intent on rewriting pretty much everything we recognize about transformers for there own unrelated view of what they believe transformers are (guyver-wtf?). Personally I think its a disservice to transformer fans, and will ultimately be damaging to the line whose popularity is proven and doesnt need reinvented.

 

Amen. As crazy as G1 could get Hasbro took it to a new level these past few years. Really hope the corporate schmucks get canned after this flop and they hire people to FURTHER DEVELOP an existing franchise. Not send it back to early 90's cartoon hell.

Seriously, given the revelations about this movie so far, this particular news should not be shocking in the least....

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they scrapped the idea of Cybertron.

 

Honestly I couldn't care less if the Ark is in the movie or not, but the statement about why is ******ed. I've been really open minded about the movie thus far (and still am) but that response just wasn't thought through.

 

I am normally the last to defend the *ahem* logic of G1 cartoon "plots", but in this specific instance it is justifiable. The planet Cybertron was originally a great distance from earth - never specified, but likely many light years. In The Ultimate Doom (I think) Cybertron is "bridged" close to Earth's orbit. It soon begins to move away from Earth, but for the rest of G1 Cybertron is much closer to Earth than it was at the start of MTMTE. This made it much easier to travel between the two worlds, and it became a fairly common occurance after that.

This ALSO explains how Waspinator was able to return to Cybertron after Beast Wars. He probably didn't get far, even after 4 million years. More likely the planet caught up to him.

 

I just think they have no clue how important the Ark and Teletran have been. They transform, not to hide, but to look like the planet's natural lifeforms. But Teletran was too damaged to know the difference, not to mention the fact that the computer was used to mechanical life being the dominant lifeform. That's why the G1 TFs turned into vehicles. And that's why the BW TFs turned into animals, to adapt to the environment by transforming into, as Megatron says, "the most powerful local creatures." They simply don't understand the reasons for the Ark.

As for the arguement over if it should be there, I don't think it matters that much. In Car Robots the Autobots showed up out of nowhere and used a parking garage as their base. So, no Ark does not equal a bad movie. But the fact that the ones in charge don't understand why something like that would be important is just disheartening, as if they have no idea what they're making a movie about.

 

Yea...well in the Ultimate Doom, Cybertron was also obiting around Earth at the time, so for an alien flyer that would have been like walking across the street...

The RID bots came to earth in various and sundry spaceships. The Destrongers had theirs - which Gigatron turned into a hand for - and the Cybertrons had two: One was Brave Maximus, the other was the ship from which Black Convoy et. al. were eventually stolen from.

and on a personal note, it still amazes me when people judge something that they havent seen yet. I mean this is insanity! I really hate spoiler threads. They always turn into 50/50 love/hate arguements. It should matter none what generation it is involved in. Its a LIVE ACTION TRANSFORMERS MOVIE! Look at how many diffrent versions of Transformers we have had in the last 22 years! None have really tied directly together and all have had a diffrent mythos. So why should the movie follow any one of those. When they said it would be based on G1, they may have meant that the general characters and their respective personalities. But then again that could go for any series. Saying something is based on G1 dosent mean its 100% G1. Its a loose term that can be generalized by one or two things. I mean they could say "Because Megatron and Optimus are in it, its G1". Its not 1984. Its 2006. Its a new story that deserves a chance to see if its good. Its really unfair to judge something before its finished. Give it a fair shot. and if you dont like it, voice your hatred then.



As for the ARK, no biggie at all. Im still just stoked to see big fukin robots!

I've been reading on here for weeks. Michael Bay has raped my childhood, yadda yadda, blah blah blah. Honestly...a character called Ironhide, set in the new millenium, is going to be a 1980's MINI-VAN. Might as well give him a holograph of a soccer mom w/team. Or, oh no, Ratchet isn't a mini-van that looks like an ambulance. OMG. We're being raped.

Its called updating people, grow the hell up.

The ARK...its no..more.......its not....*sniff* in the movie....O GOD...Oh No. How are the Transformers getting to Earth? Maybe they'll hitch a ride on a comet....maybe they are a comet....maybe Primus has a really huge sling-shot and flings them here? If you guys can accept that RiD and Energon and what not are a different continuity, why cant you see it this way for the movie too? Hell, last i checked, BW Megatron didnt look like any other f'n megatron....he looked like a damn homo sado-masichistic barney. And for the record....Hasbro has opinions in this, too!!! Its their property....they're making the f'n toys, DONT BLAME IT ALL ON BAY. 

I for one LIKE...YES LIKE the ideas presented in this movie. Well, except wood-chipper megatron, and I can deal with it.

In closing, I offer this advice: If you like the movie, see it, If you dont like it, then shut up and deal. Im honestly sick of hearing whiney lil fan boys bitch because there is no 1980's vehicles in this, some of the transformers dont "resemble" their
counterparts, and god-forbid, Michael Bay was brave enough to do some well needed, extensive upgrading. Maybe as "fans" you should see this for what it is, another fans attempt at creating new Fan-Fiction. 

I agree with Kronos.....how do you know the finished product is even bad, if you have'nt see it yet.

 

Oh, I get it. So it's like G1 because Bumblebee will never say anything, Megatron will drool, ooze slime, and CANIBALIZE HIS FELLOW CYBERTRONIANS, and Starscream will lumber around dragging his knuckles while making insect noises. They nailed those G1 characters and their personalities, alright. Speaking of G1 characters, Scorponok never really needed Zarak in G1, right? Well, I'm off to relive my fond memories of my favorite G1 character, Blackout.

While not having the Ark may not be a major thing to the story, having the Ark wouldn't be a major thing to do. Simply there is no reason NOT to have the Ark. It's something that seems to be changed simply for the sake of change, like their heads or Megatrons crazy design, with the excuse being it's more real this way. Well, it's not. Not having a ship is less realistic than having one. Why the hell are these protoform like balls flying through space and landing on earth? Are the some how self propelled or is there a giant sling shot on cybertron?

It's just silly to remove it from the movie.

Getting rid of the ark is yet another f**ked up decision made by the movie crew. The ark is a space ship. The TFs are aliens from another planet. How are they supposed to get from cybertron to earth? Do they just magically appear like the Kool aid man? Talk about stupidity. I suppose they'll probably arrive on earth ala teleportation, but then how's that anymore realistic than size shifting?
