Originally i got a rescue Ratchet to make a Movie Brawn. Then i saw a small scale model of a Psy ops Hummvee. That just said soundwave to me,i mean how many military vehicles have a massive great row of speakers on em. His cannon is made from an old Zoid part i had lying around (Kannon Zoid?) Bussaw is a repainted Classics mini-con (Divebomb?) & Transforms into a close assualt claw.
That is so, so cool. The head fits absolutely perfectly... how did you make it, or where did you get it? The paint job looks beautiful, too - it's clean, but with enough texture to make it look interesting - just the way I like it! I also feel obliged to give you mad props for teaming him with Buzzsaw, instead of the over-rated Laserbeak. He never gets enough love in my book, and I think he's far more useful to Soundwave most of the time anyway. Can't help thinking he could perhaps do with a little variation in his plumage, mind you; maybe a little black, and/or some lighter gold areas to give him a bit of contrast?
this frigging amazing, the paint job, the additions, the minor details, the concept....everything is awesome...i kinda want it to be part of my collection now....and i too prefer buzzsaw over laserbeak
one more thing...are you a professional painter? i mean all your customs so far have had excellent paint applications done to them
Whoa, now that is damn impressive. First off it would be cool with laserbeak, but reading more I think also Buzzsaw deserves some credit anyway. Awesome job my friend, really cool paint job, and the accessories are badass looking. I like it.
Looks to be Ratchet's head with a face plate added. I will give this the highest praise I am capable of giving: you've made me want to buy the toy you used
I concur on all counts... you've made this figure rock harder than it's ever rocked before. And it's very nice painting on your part. Like, Japanese Hobby Magazine nice... And yes... Buzzsaw rules, always has. Reading the comments... wait, does everybody prefer Buzzsaw? Why does Laserbeak get all the love? I mean, on top of his ability as a spy, his notable firepower, and his fearsome close-combat ability, you have to give Buzzsaw points for being an artist too. zmog
AWESOME. Nothing else to say, fantastic work. If he's in TF2, I hope we get something as good as yours.
Hey that turned out great, man. Props for being another of the few artists to make a more unique movie custom, too. I'd like to know what exactly you used parts-wise that you've glued onto that Ratchet head to pull of such a convincing Soundwave with.
Indeed you do - that's something they never told you in the 'toon. And also props for not being a GIANT WUSS (yes, I'm looking at you, Laserbeak)...
Thanks alot guys. It is indeed Ratchets head.First of all i filed down the chin & mouth then I made the mouthplate (& the centercrown thingy) out of a piece of square plastic tubeing cut in half then filed to shape. The 2 horns were sculpted with Greenstuff. Originally i was going to add some black & red but i kinda liked the way the colours matched a certain other movie minnion. I used to be a professional miniture painter for Games workshop back in the 90`s.
That is so WICKED!!! Now that is one Bad A$$ Soundwave, the way he should be. I especially love the Buzzsaw touch. Great job on turning that minicon into something increadible. Can't wait to see altmode.
Few customs make my jaw drop with utter awe, and the complete disbelief that the figure didn't simply spring into existence looking exactly like this. This is one of those customs. I thought I recognized the GW-style highlights and paint apps...absolutely first class and very professional. This is the sort of custom, in sculpt and paint, that I someday aspire to. Can you give any more specifics on what products and techniques you used? I would love to see more pics, especially of all the details, once the varnish cures... I want to make love to this figure with my eyes.
