awwwww, he should be tellin you that I have been then. all I do is work and go home... By the by, what kind of Chrome did you use on him? its nice!
Haha. I haven't heard from Santa all day. About the chrome, it's from ALclad. The smoke stacks were from Frenzy Rumble. Thanks F_R! Hehe. It sucks but I couldn't find the smoke stacks locally even till now. Also, I haven't been able to get some future to protect the chrome. It gets scrapes off quite easily if I am not careful. Other water based glosses eats up the chrome!
Does the testors gloss acryl eat at it too I wonder?? I've used that alcyd chrome for a ML siler surfer figure, and when I bought the chrome it said not to deal it with anything cuz it will loose the luster. Idk myself though. F_R would know better than I would. EDIT: ok sabs, nvm. Testors acryl clear doesn't work well. I doesn't eat at the chrome, but it does take the luster away.
I hate it, no I'm just joking I F-ing LOVE it all. From the 2 rollers the the cab. You are a master of metallic colors keep it up.
That's looking awesome. I can really see how much work you have put into the pearlized colors, tons of silver and colored clear layering right? Any Bot mode pics yet?
You might wanna test out the future on some other chrome painted piece first. I've put future on the chrome parts of my LC OP and it dulled the chrome down. I wasn't using alclad though, so it may have a different effect for you. Another great piece btw!
I'm jusy curious sabs, where the hell did you learn to paint like this?? This is one of, if not the, best movie prime repaints I've seen.
ok, these werent up when I was on just a bit ago, so sabs, I wanna say one, no two things to you.. 1st, WOW!!! HOLLY HELL THATS AMAZING!!! and 2: gimme, gimme now... can I commssion one of these from you??? Well, withouth the trailer I mean...
Hey! Heh. COmmission? I'll take that as a compliment Thanks. I'm gonna take a break from painting these toys. It's been really really tiring. Also, as to your earlier question, I've been painting for around 6 months? Prior to that, no experience in painting whatsoever. I've learnt through looking at other customs and trial and error.
bot mode looks great! i am curious about how it (and your other customs) would look with softer, more natural lighting (i.e., with a lightbox of some sort). the dark lighting you use seems to drown out a little of the detail and shading IMO.
Guess I should put in more effort to experiment with he lighting. Been too tired recently. I do have the necessary stuff but just didn't try it out. Anyway, the lighting is even worse on this one. My camera dropped from my work desk and it super over/under exposes with artefacts and weird flashes randomly. I gave up trying and just salvaged whatever pictures that were 'decent'. Thanks for the suggestion Mampy.
Fantastic work, the paint job is so rich & for want of a better word "Shiny". The blend from red to yellow on the front is just Beautiful. The trailer, cannon & roller are perfect additions.
Man, that factory Prime looks so lackluster compared to yours! One thing I'd suggest changing is that portion near the grill in vehicle mode that needs some flames. Also, I think I would suggest pulling more of the blue and red into the trailer and echoing the design from the cab a bit more. Anyways, I just wanted to tell you again how nice this looks. Great work
Thanks guys! Actually I'm very happy that this custom is more or less well received. Just didn't know how people will react to it as I'm aware that the Movie Prime has been done to death and it's like almost 1 and a half years late. Thanks once again!
