So this is what I did while waiting for my wife, Jen, to have our new baby.
I got some weird looks and a couple of questions from curious nurses as I sat there painting. Of course when it got close to kid splurtin time, I bagged the fig and transformed to husbandly support mode.
I got to finish it up though while being there all day and night after Talia was born.

Initially I went by the concept art (attached pic) for the basic look, just coating most of him in flat black then drybrushing chrome over that.
When I got home (a couple of hours ago- gotta get my other kid from school!) I used paused screens from Mixmasters brief fight with Jetfire in ROTF as reference to add in all of the color details.

Looks great! My daughter was in the hospital for about a week not too long ago and I had considered bringing in something to work on like this :)

sucks that the constructicons for ROTF arent triple changers to form Devastator. This is a REALLY good job. Better than the cgi.

No I didn't know that. Does it affect his transformation any?

That was my problem for the longest time, but this is a great transformers regardless so I finally gave him some love.

Doesn't bother me at all because movie Decepticons seem to be more monster-ish while Autobots are more human-ish. That means the designers can go more wild with creativity on cons, and this is a great example. Very original design and really effective for battle too with his shields and back cannon.

Thank you! I hope we all kick the bad colds we have before it affects Talia much. She is already sneezing.

I just posted the rest of the pics of MM in the original post. What a nightmare to transform! Hell of an awesome design though.

I guess it would depend on whether or not his fingers are still flexible. If they are, then, no. They'll bend to allow transformation. If you made them rigid, like using super glue to get the paint to stick, I wouldn't try it. Sorry, that just dawned on me.
