A guy named "Autobotcity" posted this awesome update of the Megatron movie poster over on Seibertron. It's not perfect, but I thought it was still worth sharing...

To be honest, the only thing I don't like about the original Megs pic is his deadly nose/beak thing. Very odd.

As much I like originality people need to understand that origional series was 20 years ago and this is modernization.

Thats a cool rendition of the past none the less

Only so much I could do in half an hour in between exams. Imagine what $500.000 worth of actual CGI and a few days/weeks work could do for it rather than a bit of 2D shopping though. ;)

Need to see if I can get it to be a bit sharper in a few days, first three nice exams on Differential Equations, Flight Dynamics and Dynamics and Stability (and Gasturbines after that). Sounds like fun? Oh yeah. Maths, gotta love it.

Posted it here in thumbnails in the original thread but it was a bit overlooked I suppose. >_>

Modernization I can accept. But they made this movie Megatron ugly for the sake of being ugly. That Photoshop is a modernization done correctly. The movie design, I really can't make heads or tails out of him. His design, (and I use the term loosely) has TOO much going on, and I can't focus on anything. I've said it 1000 times, and I'll say it again. Generic anime monster...

See now, that's absolutely brilliant. Why couldn't they have made movie meg's head look more like that? It would still work with his body style AND it's a tip of the hat to his G1 incarnation.

    Nice work! :thumb

Is it too much to ask that an updated character still RESEMBLE the original in some way? Great work, at least I can say there is a Megatron somewhere in there now. :thumb  Let's update Mickey Mouse and make him a horse! :horse:  Let's update Popeye and make him look like Brad Pitt to bring in the female audience. :rock

Seeing that just makes me glad they didn't do that in this film. It's a great piece of art mind you, but it's great as the cartoon G1 Megs and nothing more. I'm going to have to echo Barricade's point that the only thing that bugs me about the official design is that extended nose guard thing. Otherwise Movie megs looks FAR more menacing and intimidating then the G1 version.

Personally, I prefer the more complex look then the over simplified G1 stuff. If anything is a generic anime robot, it's certainly G1 megs.
