I recieved Longarm today and even though he's a cool toy the gun being stuck in one hand is annoying:

But then i noticed a screw holding it in:

So, I took a screwdriver to the screw and removed it,freeing up the gun:

Now, I reliased that the sqaure peg the screw is in was too small to put in the hand and it to stay. But, due to Hasbro's thoroughness of a pegged together vechile, there is an opposite round tab:

And an opposite hole in the hand:

So, you can peg it in, making him a righty but making the gun removable:

It also fits in vechile mode but keep the screw just incase. If it is loose in the hand coat it with a thin layer of glue.

And peg it into one side, It helps if you peg the back black pieces over after you've alligned the other tab where you un-screwed it from which helps stability:

That's a great, easy mod for htis mold. I did that to him and to ROTF Hoist too. Play around with that cannon and you can mount it to his shoulder, using the hook to latch onto the bottom edge of his back panel. Give it a shot, I'll try to get a pic if you like.

Never seen this mod before, but I never got the mold (nor did I really want to).

Still, this is a good idea & I'm glad you posted it, for the few that never saw the tutorial.

Ditto. Did this with my original Longarm, before I ditched the boom entirely and turned him into Gears, and again with Hoist when I finally got him.

Incidentally, with Hoist, I also often flip the launcher barrel back under in robot mode, and just leave his lightbar split open a little as a diagnostic scanner array. Seems more appropriate for him than an enormous missile launcher...

 

Oh, i just noticed the missle fires under the truck with enough clearance to work  

 

Yeah, I did this the same night I got him in 2007, but thanks! Also did it to Hoist in '09... never did like the "Has to hold ginormous cannon, no matter what" look!
