I've been thinking on this Jazz hands thing, and I think I'm on to something... I haven't actually done any bashing yet, so this is all hypothetical. I've just got blobs of clay holding all the pieces in place, so bear with me. I think this can be pulled off with some ball joints added. Now I think the obvious problem here (if I can make it work) is that his forearms end up still being empty. However, this does look cooler to me. Another alternative is leaving the doors on the legs, and just attaching the fists directly to the hinged piece that is hanging down from the wheel there. That also looks kind of cool, though I didn't take pictures of it yet. zmog
It's unfortunate that the normal transformation doesn't use the doors like that, the arms come out looking a lot shorter than the hood halves.
Looks good, too bad it's not a perfect transformation, don't think it's possible to have a perfect transformation, but you are welcome to prove me wrong
That really looks quite good. I like his "wings". I can't wait to see all the bashing and modding people do with all the new movie toys.
why not just drill holes in the normal shoulder wheel cover block thingy majigs and have really stubby arms?
Looks good to me. I may pick up Jazz after all. You could get some of that foam board and box it in a little so it doesn't look so out of place. Then give it an easy way of mounting back for the Alt. mode.
That looks really cool! I like Jazz and all but the bashes seen here do prove that he does have room for improvement. Good work!
Heh... the difference being, you actually made yours, while mine is only stuck together with play-doh. While I was thinking about this for a while, it was the pics of yours that actually motivated me to try this, so thanks for the inspiration. Working on it. That was what I started out planning to do. I had the doors removed because I wanted to make them articulated on his legs, and then I decided to give this a try. I already mocked it up with the hands attached directly to the wheel-cover things (didn't take pics though)... it actually looks surprisingly less stubby than you'd think. If this fails, that will be my fall-back plan. You need to tell me what this foam board stuff is... it sounds interesting, but I don't get exactly what you're talking about. Nah, this is just the Deluxe, but with some experimental customization... which I hope will work out. zmog
Awesome. What hands are those? D**n you all!! The only Movie figs I've seen here are the Protoforms and 4 out of the 6 Real Gear!! And, I really want Jazz!!!
New to the board... Has anyone though about just shaving down the claws and epoxying some regular hands on? BTW Am I the only person who likes Movie Jazz's transformation as is?
Yeah I was wondering why more people haven't been doing this, and then I had to remind myself that for most, this figure hasn't even been released yet. I think the hands are spares from an Armored Core 2 figure... I have a little box full of nothing but robot hands from my gundams and stuff, so I'm not totally sure. In the end, I may have to opt for hands that take up less space, but these ones look cool for now. There are some others who do, but I have to wonder why... the arms are terrible on this figure as is. Awkward shape, poor articulation, hollow construction, no actual locking in place... and that's not even counting the pincers. There's not much to love. As for the pincers I was thinking about what you suggest. It's rather close to Onesock's solution. I did put some fists in place of the pincers, but it still didn't quite look right to me. Even with fists, the forearms look... lobstery. zmog
hmmm. Like I said, I'm getting Jazz, and I know I'm modding the head/face.... I'll probably just shave off the claws and add some hands... Personally, I don't think the arms look lobster like at all.. I do agree about the hollow construction though... Just how bad is the articulation on the arms?
