There is a press release posted on superherohype.
It lists all the extra features that will be included on the various dvd's.
Unfortunately, no mention of any deleted scenes or bonus footage.

It lists the single DVD, the 2-disc Special Edition, and the HD DVD edition.

Some of the content on the HD DVD sounds awesomely cool. Too bad I can't get it.

If I'm reading the release correctly, it has everything from the DVD 2-disc version plus the HD-DVD exclusive stuff.

Where should I get it? Any word on special promos or anything from the big box stores? (Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy Circuit City)

They're getting as much mileage out of the teaser Prime image, huh? Not that I'm complaining.

Does this seem early? I mean, I'm all for it, but usually it takes like, 6 months for movies to come to DVD.

Given that the official press release just came out today, I don't think we'll know for a little bit still.

It's all but confirmed that the Wal*Mart version will have the "animated/moving comic stills" prequel. As if other stores will have nifty little extras, we'll have to wait and see.

I wouldn't call myself a "film fanboi", but I did enjoy the film. If funds weren't as tight as they are, the extras on the HD Disk might even justify getting a hi-def DVD and TV.

As it is, I'm kinda curious abouyt the commentaries. I wonder if we'll get another version of the developement process.

I have to find out if HD-DVDs play on my laptop. Maybe the movie will have some kind of tie-in price deal with the Best Buy metallic Voyager exclusives.

Hmmm...should we go ahead and plop down the cash for the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on or just stick w/ the "regular" 2 disc DVD?

Wal-Mart exclusive I think, so it might not be covered in the press release.

Exactly what I was thinking. Didn't at BotCon they say there was close to 20 minutes of footage that got cut simply because the running time was to long. I thought for sure we would be getting this now. I really don't want to have to wait for the super special edition that will come out right before the sequel.

I heard awhile ago that Walmart was suppose to have an animated prequel to the Movie included with the DVD release. I am wondering if they will include this on all three seperate boxes or just on the 2 disc DVD set and the HD DVD set.

I am wondering if they will include the prequel on a seperate DVD and just put it in the box.

So the HD-DVD won't be getting anything truly earth-shattering other than the one thing I was most looking forward to, detailed shots of each of the robots. So, I'll have to buy it and then hope I can afford an HD player before they become out-dated. And web-features on a DVD set of any kind seem ridiculously silly. Those features will mean nothing twenty years from now. Heck, they probably won't mean anything five years from now.

Still looking forward to the release, but my bet is before Christmas NEXT year, we'll be seeing a "SUPAH" release of this movie with the extra footage as a bonus. And then the inevitable box set once the second and/or third films are completed will include even more footage that's never before been seen.
