So, this is something that's kind of always been in the back of my mind. Maybe it's because I grew up impersonating Dr. Evil and Austin Powers, or because I still spout out a random quote from Futurama, Family Guy, or Scrubs at the opportune moment (also...apparently Pirates of the Caribbean).

So, I was curious, can we make a list of where Bee's sound clips in the movie come from?

A couple off the top of my head:

-"Anymore questions you wanna ask?" - John Wayne from "El Dorado" (1966)

-"Message from Star Fleet, Captain." - Star Trek (although, not certain which episode or movie exactly)

-"If there's anything you need, I won't be far away" and "There's some things you just can't change" - [I believe are from] Tom Hanks in "Forrest Gump" (1994)

-"Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a kid?" - Rob Lowe from "Tommy Boy" (1995)

-"Goodbye, my old friend." - Al Pacino in "The Godfather: Part III" (1990)

    Anyone else know any?

It's interesting, because that song "Second to none" is by Styles of Beyond and Mike Shinoda.

    M. Shinoda is in Linkin Park :)

I'm here to help - or at least partially.

"Message from Starfleet, Captain" - Uhura, the original Star Trek TV series

There's one I remember quite well from RotF, but I don't know the source:
    - "Then we've got to stick together!"

If we're counting any of the songs he plays to suit his mood or the moment:
    - "Brick House" by Commodores
    - "Super Freak" by Rick James
    - "Your Cheatin' Heart" by Hank Williams
    - "I'm So Excited" from The Pointer Sisters
    - "Jaws Theme" by John Williams

And then he seems to splice different sound clips together to form some unique sentences in certain DotM scenes, which of course are a bit trickier to figure out.

I remember that one from RotF too. I've wondered where that was from as well. It almost sounds like Jimmy Stewart (not the NASCAR dude), so I was thinking maybe it's from "It's a Wonderful Life" or something.

Nice catch on the tunes by the way. I was going to throw those into my first post, and I completely forgot lol.

EDIT: Apparently, that line in RotF actually is from "It's a Wonderful Life."

I know the "My friend" in his goodbye speech to Sam before getting on the Xantium was from either Kirk or Spock in Star Trek

I had an idea on all of those song titles, but just to let you know, I got Wikipedia's help to really identify them and their artists - except for "Super Freak" and the Jaws theme (<- although I don't know its exact title).

Kudos on figuring out that RotF quote. I'm not very familiar with Jimmy Stewart, and with that subtle dramatic (Steve Jablonsky-written) music playing over the scene, I couldn't exactly tell what the original context might've been.

And I loved that that Tommy Boy quote was used in DotM; it's one of my favorite comedies.

(Oh - and I originally didn't notice you mentioning the Uhura quote, so that's why I originally included it.)

"Houston we have a problem" in ROTF I think is from the movie APOLLO 13 (Tom Hanks?)

"Missed it by That Much" in DOTM is from the original "GET SMART" tv series (Don Adams)

I know that at least one of Bumblebee's lines is a soundbite of Denzel Washington . . . maybe the one where he says: "I*'ve gotta be goin' on"

Awesome guys, let's keep this up!

I don't know as if the "Jaws" theme has an actual title, other than perhaps "Main Theme" or "Main Titles". I think everyone just knows it's from there and that it was written by good ol' John Williams. It's like when people hear the "Jurassic Park" theme. It's just easily recognizable, although that same theme is used in some variation in about 4 or 5 of the songs on the soundtrack lol.

    Good catch on that one!

I'm sure some are just made up to have the specific type of clip they needed. As long as it sounds like a found clip it serves the purpose. Sprinkle enough of those between clips people will recognise and it's job done.

Fun fact: That's from a song called ''Second to None'' by Fort Minor. The lead singer of Fort Minor is Mike Shinoda who raps and sings for Linkin Park :p

It seems as though some from DotM may be just made up of random words, but I do think it's possible that they are actually all from something, although we may never find out what exactly.

It's a shame that a good thread like this will eventually run out of steam.
