As far as that gascap thing on his mouth, the question is if this face looks like this one:

I feel like he has more of a mouth in the far away photo, so perhaps this is just his battle mode or something.

    Hello All!
This may be kinda odd, but I was looking at his face and the way the eyes are reminded me of another's face...take a look at just the eyes and someone tell me that it doesn't remind them of BM Rattrap's eyes!

I'm not taking it personally at all. I'm pointing out in a way I find humorous that "culture" doesn't explain alien robots coincidentally having human faces.
From what I've heard, he is a gimp, so I guess they nailed the design.

You might be right. Actually, I'm starting to think that nanobots may play a huge part in their transformations also. It could explain why they don't have a million cuts in their vehicle modes because they fill-in with nanobots until the creases can't be seen by the naked eye.

Looks like a lemur! But I tend to agree with the notion that this is probably just a prop that the human's actor use to talk to. The final will likely be CG. I seem to remember watching a TV interview on that Damon Wayans' movie Little Man (???) ... and Damon saying that it was odd talking to a face on a balloon.

First thing that came to mind was a Transformer at least, too bad it was Armada's Sureshock....

I can't see why anybody would say there's no room for emotion on that face. He looks terrified!

In all honesty I'm glad they went with this direction because I can't help but think that no matter how good the CGI, human-like faces on on these bots would've looked cartoony.

As for the Autobot symbol being a face....Simple dumb luck anyone? It's entierly possible that an alien civiliaztion could come to earth and find that everyday logos and symbols we use resemble things on their world. Sure it's a long shot but it makes more sense than alien robots who have never been to earth before having human faces.

    About as funny as Meggy...

But, all things considered, this aint so bad. Seriously. If we gotta accept the chrome cactus, we can deal with this.

Well the yellow is blinding that way, but it does give a better look at how his face is constructed. Looks less furby-like, that's for sure. It wouldn't be so bad at all if his eyes weren't so perfectly round. And huge.

He's so cute that I want to poke his eyes. The face reminds me of General Grivious' droids.

I like to be upbeat and positive about any comic/toy movie, because there has to be a lot of concept flexibility to make the move appeal to the general movie going public.

But this - I feel like I'm looking at a movie that will be grossly over-hyped, and flop on its opening weekend. I sincerely hope that we're seeing red herrings here, and not the actual, final results. I mean, why would Optimus Prime have a G1 accurate head, and not the rest of the cast?

There are just too many things that are conflicting about all of this. But I digress, I have faith in both Dreamworks and Hasbro to make this a successful and faithful movie. All parties involved just have too much at stake to muff this up and anger the whole fandom - especially with all of the implied sequels being muttered.
