lame using old molds for the "new design" directions movie line. seems half assed, especially with all the thought and design that has gone into the main toys this just looks out of place.

 

Yup. One of them was modeled after Moonracer but they couldn't use the name, so they renamed her Chromia, which is what this new one looks more like.

And to be honest, the version of Arcee that appears in the prequel comic does sport some resemblance to the Energon mold, just not with these colors.

 

Because they've never done it before and it would be a stupid thing to do?

 

Neither of those seems like a barrier to it being done at all.

I thought it was established that all the scout class bots in the movie line will be basics repaints of prior molds and everything higher up will be new molds? And Arcee herself will be getting two figures, one basic and one deluxe with a new mold. Personally I'll be grabbing this fig as it does look nice in those colors. Just wonder if she'll have her big ass bow.

 

Actually I was pointing out a possibility. Unlike you, I never stated I it WAS a Botcon dealie, just that I have doubts that this is a movie toy without proof.

 

That's close to what I had heard also, with the exception that there will be some new mold scouts, mixed in with various repaints.

 

If this is a movie redecco it's brilliant news as far as I'm concerned; it means I won't have to get every movie toy after all. Superb news.  
Oh. And considering that Megatroptimus has more movie protos than probably anyone else here, I'd be inclined to believe him.

 

I have no clue what this is, but we have seen late test shots and prototypes surface long after the mold was mass released...so it could be a simple test shot. Whether it's a test shot, Botcon item, movie figure, or something else entirely...I really don't care. If nothing else she was a pure impulse buy. Least she'll look good on display w/ Arcee, Chromia & Flareup.

 

Ho hum, think I'll stick with new moulds - Repaints of old stuff are going to stick out like a sore thumb (in a bad way) on my movie toy shelf.

 

Hey, I believe megatroptimus. He's like, our residential movie toy expert, seeing as he has basically all the toys.  

But the idea sucks. Old repaints ftl.

 

I can't see this being a Botcon figure considering FP used this mold 2 years ago (actually less considering the timing of Botcon this year).
