Thanks so much to blitz and Josh for all the help when creating this picture. Definitely an improvement to my other pictures. This was another piece inspired by the TFW podcast, where I think one of the crew members had an idea to bring Astrotrain in as a cowboy. I wanted to make a character full of personality, and the idea stuck with me.

"Astrotrain was once one of Megatrons most faithful servants. He spent his time waiting patiently in earth's orbit for the moment his master would call for him. This long wait left him in isolation, and to pass the time he would hack into earth's television, quickly falling in love with the wild west. But as he realized his master would never call for him, this now lawless decepticon would take manners into his own hands, scanning a new earth form on top of his previous form. Now he is rogue and wild: a threat to the decepticons Megatron has sworn to take care of personally."

*A slight update* I changed the picture since I cleaned it up. If you look at the original it has horrendous pixel texture*

Neat! Looks like there's a little Animated Starscream there, in the legs and wings.

Not really feeling it for the Bayverse but this would make a kickass design for TF: Animated! :bay

That concept would work well with an animated Astrotrain as well :D

If I get the free time I might do an animated design. He certainly seems like he could be an animated character since animated often based characters off of various distinct personalities. To MythofBlackout, I completely agree. Try as I might, I can never pull off the movie designs. I don't like breaking up a vehicle to the point you cant tell generally where parts are coming from. I try to hard to make a passable transformation to do that. Though he is inspired from the movie designs, my own art style removes him from it.

Thank you all so much! I have never gotten such good feedback, suggestions, or critiques before.

  Wow, great job! This does not seem too movieverse to me,(No Offense) but this could instead be part of a whole new continuity. A new animated series. Anyways, great work!

Edit: If you removed the hat, I think it would work perfectly.

He really doesn't fit in, you're right. He just kinda ended up being my own style
Got the same problem unless I turn up my backlight alot.
No, too many other pictures to do at the moment XD
Hahahaha, its just that last touch to bring in that personality. Thanks to you all.

What I like most about this is that he totally has a sort-of ROTF Jetfire aesthetic going for him. Once again, bravo.

if you would like to have a few tips on highlighting darker areas I have a few.

depending on the finish you want (Matt, gloss, reflective etc) you need different levels of highlights right now its kinda flat but with a layer set to overlay and the use of some white brushed areas it could really come to life

Ok I think I understand what you're talking about. The great thing about working on the computer is that you can go back an adjust if necessary. Thanks for the tip :) , I'll probably go back an adjust, then upload my new results.

Dude, that's really cool! I like how he's sort of like a robot gunslinger, a look, I'm sure, that you were going for.

I think one thing though, is that he looks a bit dark. XD I hope it's not just my computer, but some of the finer details are a little bit lost. You've definitely got some light around the hips, and I wonder if that would make it pop if that technique was applied to his wings, underarms, etc. XD

    Lookin great!

Awesomeness, although I got a more Puritan than gunslinger vibe from him at first.

Very cool idea for Astrotrain. I think an Animated design for him would be really cool to see.
