Hopefully we'll get some sort of re-rated "director's cut" somewhere down the line. I'd love to see that.

Sounds like the R cut was switched to PG-13 because Spielberg talked them out of it. Not like they recut the film to tone it down.

(Still dislike the idea of LaBeouf in Indy 4 though).

Well, it doesn't say they cut anything, the article makes it sound more like Spielberg went and threw his weight around the little MPAA office.

This could be a PR spin actors have been asked to pass on to people... but it does sound reassuring.

Not because of nudity?! Boo! Boo I say! Meghan Fox is the best design I've seen from that movie.

    "Transformers: The R-Rated Movie"
That would definitely get people wondering what had happened to those "toys" from '84.
Still, this makes me even more eager to see the film if there's going to be a ton of action and explosions and stuff.
I think this was a good move, cutting it down to a PG-13 without getting rid of any material. That way, it retains all of its content, yet more people can see it.
    And I can't wait to

I'd say this is possibly a studio created ploy to continue pushing the idea that this is not a kids film. Or it could just be that the film is pretty intense and a bit violent at times. Perhaps the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

i say cool....except if its really supposed to be an R rated flick, and they didnt cut anything out, there could be some backlash from parents who find out and see it with their kids and freak out cuz of how violent it is.....and i too hope for a directors cut down the line....full of extra explosions and meghan fox....

Michael Bay may not be the most competent director in the world, but if there's one thing that there's no doubt about, it's that any movie he does will be full of action and explosions. Hell, I don't even think Bad Boys 2 had a plot, just a bunch of cool car chases, gunfights, and explosions.

Parents don't care that much about violence in film these days. You could have all-out Rambo assaults and bloody stumps falling everywhere throughout a movie and a parent would just shrug about it. But heaven forbid kids see a booby or a butt. THAT'S the type of stuff that will ruin a kid for life.

Now, who here believes that any director is capable of getting the MPAA to change a rating? Show of hands? *CRICKETS CHIRP*

(OK, MAYBE somebody like Spielburg. But that's a VERY big maybe. Like, hugely big.)

Yeah. Me neither. However, I like the idea that they're trying to spin it that way. It at least means they're TRYING to make a movie full of action and violence. Which, let's face it, the Transformers need. It's a war after all.

Spielberg has tremendous pull with the MPAA. More so than nearly any other film maker. Remember, he was the guy who headed the creation of the PG-13 rating to avoid an R Rating for Temple of Doom.
