Who do you think is the most useless Transformer in alt-mode as a toy?
I think Perceptor is. What's the fun of playing with a microscrope that doesn't even work?

Actually I thought Perceptor does work to some extent.

Even though I enjoyed Pretenders, a lot of the alt modes (with the exception of Beast Pretenders) made little to no sense and were practically worthless. They didn't seem to resemble anything despite the wings and wheels implying a jet or car. Today, Cybertron Metroplex and Menasor, considering their respective "transformations", are pretty bad as well.

I got the Perceptor reissue for Christmas and love it. Microscope is cool enough on its own, but the tank mode is pretty awesome too. Better, actually, and it makes him seem more useful.

true, but he has a beautiful, fairly kibble-free plane mode. And it's huge.

I tried fiddling with the knobs on Perceptor and looking inside his scope and all I saw was blur. And I don't mean the Autobot!
Plus, the packaging reads, "Not a working microscope!"

So you're talking useless as far as it being a toy goes and not useless as in TF world?

If that's the case then Scalpel makes Perceptor look like the most functional microscope out there.

Yes, as a toy because in the TF world they do a lot more than what the toy does. Sure, you can use your imagination and what not, but..........................
I just think Perceptor would've been a little more useful if the microscope could actually work, even if all it could do is fry an ant. For example.

If that's the case, then Soundwave/Blaster. They're not even working tape deck, I feel so ripped off.

The microscope actually does work though, at least it does on mine. It might not be as good as a $100 microscope, but it was never designed to be. Perceptor is a toy first, microscope second. I think it is actually one of the best incorporated features especially since the mold was created 30 some years ago.

I might play with it again later to see. But from what I saw, nothing came in focused.

it doesn't focus but it has magnification power. The knob on the actual scope is the one you use to adjust the "power zoom"

Also, as the package said, it's not a true functioning microscope. Perceptor is missing some components that correct for the light refraction. The most obvious is that the image you see in the scope is actually upside down.

But to clarify, perceptor does work. The scope magnifies but anything you put on the tray would be blurry. You have to put something VERY small, like a small screw or something similiar...anything else is too big and wont be clear.

i have my own perceptor but as a kid my cousin had perceptor. When we were kids, he killed a very small cockroach and looked at it under perceptor. it was gross.

Almost there. It's not Perceptor; that one works in a kids toy binnoculars/microscope way. It's ROTF Scalpel that would be the most useless...
