I'd go with E-Bulkhead, but the convention exclusives, and the Timelines comic had as a CD-Hotshot repaint.

Bulkhead easy. Looks the most like a futuristic helicoptor.

Bulkhead. Color scheme's already pretty close to Springer's.

i bashed my bulk head into springer.....

    its a 4 step process

    1. Remove visor from head

    2. Paint over any orange with acrylic yellow, about 4 coats

    3. paint face silver

    4. call him springer

I agree the Energon Bulkhead would work for Springer, but if you wanted something modern-like I would choose Evac, but thats my opinion. Anyways can't wait to see it.

If I had the funds, I would just do both and think of it as Cybertronian-mode (Bulkhead) and Earth-mode (Evac) Springer. Unfortunately, I must choose one or the other. Bulkhead seems to be getting the overwhelming vote.

Actually, isn't Springer's face a lighter shade of green?

I tried to carve off the moustache... but I was sleepy when I was doing it, and the knife slipped a couple of times... once into my finger, and the other time to neatly slash off his whole nose. Bleeding profusely and having just given Springer a botched rhinoplasty, I decided it would be better to get back to it at a later date and go to bed before I chopped my arm off and set the house on fire. :)

The moral of this story is, I think it would be possible to carve and sand off the moustache... very carefully. But make sure you're on the ball when you try it.

I think Bulkhead is the ideal figure for Springer because he fits the general powerfully-built physical description and is clearly designed as an homage to Springer (with the large boxy yellow helicopter nose, helmet design, and overall colour palette).

Incidentally, I did try painting the face silver and it looked okay, but somehow when I stripped off th silver, the light green of the plastic looked even better (more like the G1 toy).

As for EVAC making a decent Springer... this guy did it. Pretty nice results actually.

:lol  I'm guilting of working on little sleep myself. I've been up way too many hours to be airbrushing my alt Ironhide.

Bulkhead does seem to be the ideal Springer. Strange they didn't just give him a more Springer-looking head, then you would pretty much have to do nothing to him!

The Evac that guy did is great! My only criticism would be the yellow feet. It's not accurate to the cartoon or the toy, and it gives his Alt mode what appears to be a beak.

I KNEW Tidalwave would make an awesome Broadside!

Someone needs to provide links to the rest of his customs, especially the Blitzwing one. I'd do it myself but i've grown to fear clicking random links on a jp site. >_>

I feel your pain. Many a kitbash of mine have been smeared with my blood. When they say a person puts their blood and sweat into a bash, that's not an exaggeration. We wear our scars as a badge of honor.

Ohh, here's an idea for this board. When people post their bashes they should also post pictures of any wounds received as a result of the bash.

Ohh and my vote is for Bulkhead.

I think E. Cyclonus w/ a new head and paint job would make a pretty good G1-esque Springer.

the stache on bulkhead isnt as noticeable when you paint it silver.

ends up kind of looking like stylistic wrinkles. The plastic is pretty thick and i would definitely lose a finger trying to cut it off. But the colors are already there and the less painting the better for a good looking custom i say.

Ill post some pictures along with him and all my other customs who havent seen the light of day sometime, cuz i dont have a digital camera lol

note: i just used some cheap wal mart acrylic yellow, it dries to a nice matt finiish. The best part about bulkhead is that all the places that need to be painted are raised seperate pieces, so you dont even need to be careful just brush to the edge.

it really is a 20 minute custom that looks great with the classics.
