I was googling most iconic images for some other franchises (superman, batman, etc) and they had some pretty interesting links of lists that came up, but there was no such list for transformers. Granted, the franchise hasn't been around as long, but I was curious what people would pick as the most iconic images. My fanhood is strongly toy rather than fiction based so not many come to mind apart from the Shochwave "the transformers are all dead" cover

    Let's see some pics!

Really though, I'd nominate any Marvel G1 cover. They were all classic.

    Was my first thought.

How about the faction logos? Do they count? They're pretty iconic Transformers images.

Is it bad that I only worked out what that picture was because of the balls? And even then it took me several seconds to zone in on them. Not that my first thought when looking at any picture is 'Are there balls?'. :p

    G1 Optimus Prime's box art.
    G1 Megatron's box art.

Both are legendary in my eyes.

Definitely a lot of the character box art sticks in my mind. You could make an awesome t-shirt design of most all of them. Which actually I did several times.
Although is 'being featured a lot so they stick in your mind' really 'iconic'? Not that I'm disagreeing with you.

I've looked at those art designs since 1984, to me they are legendary. Much like the characters they portray.

As a kid I used to cut up my TF boxes and pin those character arts to my wall.

I've still got them. I now just wish I'd kept the boxes in one piece.

    I wish I did that.

As a kid boxes (after snipping the tech specs of course) hit the garbage can fast and I never looked back.

The sad thing is although I cut up the boxes I kept probably 95% of each one. So I kept the sides, the strip along the top showing the transformations stages, the front character art, the back battle scene, the tech specs. I think the main part that always got tossed was the bottom of the box with all the legal and business jargon text. So I pretty much did keep the boxes, just not the full 100%. Nowadays though I've gone the other way and I fully rebox my figures for storage once they've done duty on display.

Aaaaanyway, I think I started to derail the thread here.

So, those iconic images, eh? :)

I gut boxes, throw out all the innards and flatten them down for storage. They take up a fraction of the space that way. I couldn't imagine how much space full boxes would be taking up by now.

    Love em'. :thumb
