Just got mine...and I am pretty disappointed. First off, I probably will leave this in one mode and not mess with it too much. There was sooooo much potential but I ultimately score this around 4.5/10.

    Negatives
    Feels floppy
    Feels cheap
Gun does not fit in had as already mentioned
Also had part of screw holder on shoulder missle broken
    Missles could have more details
    Definitely over priced

    Positive
It looks nice until you start fiddling with it.
Like the mini cyclone and pilot, the paint on them is eh
The gun looks nice...just wish it would fit.

I am glad that I bought international and paid less than NA etailers. 3p tfs are built better and better priced. This should be $130-150 max.

I watched the Knerdout ep on the Evolution Legioss last night. Brutal. But I can't say it was enough to totally dissuade me if it goes on deep discount clearance.

I watched some of it. I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as they portray, but I'm not trying to entertain and get viewers, so...

True. And later in the video there was some text overlay where one of them said it had grown on them. They mentioned that they got the Diaclone Big Powered figure the same day, which is rough competition. Especially given the Legioss cost a bit more.

Maybe the Toynami 1:60 will be OK. Has there been any more word on it?

No further info on the Toynami yet. I'll test pilot one for sure.
The biggest strike against the Evo Legioss is the price. It isn't a bad figure per se, but it does not feel like a $250 toy, which is to say it doesn't feel as refined and robust as most of the things we're used to spending that much money on. If any of us pulled it out of a Hasbro Leader class box we'd probably love it - damning with faint praise, yes. I'll make no excuses for Evolution, and I hesitate to defend them, but I am happy enough with the thing so far mostly because nothing has broken, I can pose it, and I can swoosh it around without anything flopping around. If you have any interest at all, keep an eye out for a clearance price.

Wait for discount...you will feel better about what you spent then paying full price. It is a visually nice looking piece, but it just doesn't feel like a $200+ piece. If you collect 3rd party tfs, the FT dinobots are less expensive and you feel good about how solid their toy is. This Alpha...not so much.

With that being said, I hope Riobot doesn't botch it with the cyclones. I have been waiting for a long time for something good. I have the CM versions but want something that is good quality...and ultimately that is what its about. If you have to pay x amount you want to feel like you are getting that value.

Toynami kwalitee strikes again. I have an old Rook Bartley masterpiece from around 2004 or 2005. I was never really impressed and was about to finally sell it off when one of the hands broke off at the knuckle. Do I have any worthwhile options, like replacement hands or selling it for jet mode only or even parts, or is it a total loss?

So is there a licensing reason that Bandai hasn't done an Alpha? I was looking online for the original and I learned that somebody, for some reason, produced a model that only half transformed. What a gyp! Can you imagine asking for that in 1985 and only getting half a toy?

LOL. This IS a macross thread, not robotech! So no alphas here!

I would also like Bandai to attempt a Legioss (Alpha).

Legioss is not Macross, it's Mospeada! :p ;)

Good thing is we have a good Mospeada thread here too!
    Mospeada: Who else collects?

And yeah, one of my most wanted needs of my collection is a good Legioss and Tread but I have not seen anything in existence that is worthy yet.

I'm well aware that legioss is from Mospeada, and alpha from Robotech! Thank you for clarifying though. :)

Bandai hasn't done an Alpha because they probably don't care. Most Mospeada love goes to the Ride Armors, the planes usually get the short end of the stick.

Gakken made the halfformer you speak of. I believe it was 1/72, so pretty small(the Legioss is a relatively small plane, a lot smaller than a VF-1 in scale), that might be why it only half transformed. I would be disappointed with that too.

Gakken made all the Mospeada toys back in the 80's. Matchbox brought over some of them. I want a Gakken 1/35 Legioss but might get the Evo if it ever goes on sale(similar size too).

Evo looks like they've only done the blue one so far?

The red Evo legioss is up order preorder today. Hopefully, Evo addresses some of the QC issues with the blue one.

Looks like I'll have to go AE or somebody other than HLJ. Went to order and those mooks threw some billing agreement paperwork at me. Wasn't willing to put up with that to be a distribution customer, not willing to put up with it for one-offs either. Don't punish me for what serial flakes are doing.

Anyone with the evo Legioss, is the plastic easily mashable? I read that about the Evo VF2SS and that's a big red flag for me.
