This is why. Even if the figure was open but in good condition, it would fetch a good amount of money. One MOC is almost unheard of.

I don't think this has anything to do with it. There is a great collecting market for Iron Man toys, new or old. And an even better market for vintage comic book figures.

16,000! SWEET JESUS! It looks kind of a lot old, and it's mint, and Iron Man 2 came out.

Looks kind of stupid to me.

    Ebay:
    Understandable, considering its rarity.

A MIB-MISB Mego Iron Man pulls $200-$700. The boxed versions, as you might imagine, aged a bit better - there's usually 1-2 of them on eBay at any given time.

However, this auction is one of only two MOSC Mego Iron Man I've ever seen, and the card was trashed on the other one I saw. This is a truly, truly special piece, and Mego collectors are hardcore. No doubt someone has been waiting many years to find one like this. Congrats should go out to both buyer and seller. :thumb

EDIT: Interestingly, these are currently being reissued, it would seem. Saw (I think) a Dr. Doom at TRU the other day, same card and everything. Just goes to show that reissues have NO impact on desirability of originals.

Asked my Mego collector friend about this and he tells me this is the 5th known MOSC Iron Man, and one of the other four is a reseal. Apparently this isn't the most a MOSC Mego has gone for either! Definitely a rare piece, and unlikely affected by the new movie, other than possibly prompting the seller to put it up for sale.

Big congrats to the seller. :thumb

You are right. It is weird, since both DC and Marvel characters are being reissued in the same line at the same time.
