Man, I don't care what anyone else says. I love these things!!

Starscream really does look a lot like a Kazon ship, doesn't he?

Its so refreshing to see picture after picture of something that gets uglier and uglier. Its good to know that there are some constants that I can feel secure in and thats the ugliness of these toys.

QFT, for what they represent IMPO those toys are pretty decent

Yeah I can see that, if not Kazon definitely something you'd expect to see in Star Trek

Why do they feel the need for those gun/missle things with the colorful effects coming out of it, that always looks awful?--worst thing about the Classics Hotrod, and as with that, looks awful here..

QFT. I kinda feel the same way. It's like, "Do I, having seen these shots, now feel different about these toys? Uh...errrrrmmm...no."

Thanks for these moneysaving measures, Hasbro! You will keep me moderately income'd!

I like these a lot...I'll likely buy one of them. I hope movie SS has a head more like this toy than the other SS proto we've seen.

I really don't see why so many people feel compelled to scream about how much these are "pieces of sh*t," or "look like turds."
I mean, seriously, first of all, they're MOVIE PREVIEW toys.
Secondly, they're freaking protoforms/meteorites, so they aren't supposed to be impressive or break the foundations of the toy industry as we know it.
    They're just cheap preview toys.

That said, I'll probably be snagging Prime. I'll admit, Starscream don't look too impressive, aside from his overall cool design (the head is indeed blech).

so...... are these things supposed to be fishes? i'm pretty sure that's a fin on starscream weapon (probably it will fit on the back of the altmode like with optimus)

oh, and optimus still has wheels in his snot/meteor/tuna mode or whatever it is. that is too stupid for words.

strangely the robot modes don't appear that ugly to me, if i end up getting any of those two, they won't be ever transformed.

oh, and starscream is way better than optimus in either mode IMO

I agree, the "flames" come out of a gun/exhaust looks awful. Just put the gun in his hand and we will use our imagination to visualize flames/gun flash.

So what if they're preview toys? I'm not expecting something to destroy my world and to usher in a awesomely futuristic era of toy design...but something cool, even neat would be nice. And what kind of preview is this? I thought previews were supposed to make me interested, catch my attention and make me excited! I see this and I say to myself "Oh...ok...this does nothing for me. If this is a preview and I feel so turned off already they did a poor job. What am I to expect now for the finish product? Transforming car like thingies that become ugly Sasquatch like cyborgs?"

I'm in complete agreement with you on this. I don't mind these toys, really, but I hate those "plastic flames." It just looks so.... kiddie.

But then, I also for the most part don't like things with missiles, launchers, transparent weapons, etc. I'm probably one of the few people who is glad that for the G1 reissues, Hasbro disabled the launchers. I use my toys for display, and those play features just become an annoyance.

Plastic flames don't bother me much. But I find the argument that they're kiddie funny. "Oh man, this toy that turns from alien robot to intergalactic spaceship is sooo kiddie with the flames!" hehehe

Despite the fact that they appear to fit on the guns, the flame thingies are supposed to be meteorite entry trails (as shown on the backs of the cards here), rather than missiles/flamethrower effects.

Damnit, here I go thinking it's finally a proto of the truck/F-22 Prime and Starscream, and it's these damn things again.

Anyway, I suppose it is cool how the front of...whatever Prime turns into vaguely resembles his face.

Heh heh. Okay, you got me there. I guess I don't have much right complaining that a kid's toy is kiddie. I suppose if I didn't like stuff like that I probably shouldn't have picked up toy-collecting as a hobby. :)

Touche, sir! "Kiddie" comment cheerfully withdrawn. :)
