My response to the Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2 is this. Do we really need to bring out dead movies and make more sequels and threquels of them?
    What's next? Spaceballs 2?

Titanic 2 is real. However it is not a sequel. It's simply the name of the new ship.

Meh, this is nothing new. Hollywood will probably keep on churning out crap sequels until the end of time.

Hollywood isn't exactly keeping tabs on TFW for the next breakout movie writer. How about doing something that actually affects them and not going to see movies that don't deserve your cash? Support original film ideas with your box office dollars.

Late breaking news, Hollywood is a business and sequels have proven to make that business lots and lots of money. In other news, humans need oxygen to survive.

yeah, but just like anything that hollywood does they beat an idea into the ground to the point where most people are sick of it(in this case bringing back dead movies/shows). But I agree they won't stop until those kind of movies stop making money.

I love the idea of sequels over remakes. I can guarantee you, a bunch of empty suits at Disney were sitting around trying to come up with a TRON remake treatment, when one of them had a rare stroke of insight and said, "Why not a sequel?"

It's a business move, yes, but one I prefer VASTLY over just churning out remakes. With these sequels from "long dead" franchises, you're getting more than just homages to the originals, you're getting the original actors, the original characters, and a story that continues the tradition. A remake runs the risk of being branded a poor man's version, but a sequel, at the very least, will draw the nostalgia crowd.

Yes, I know, it's a calculated gimmick, but who cares? I love me some nostalgia. I loved the new Rocky and Rambo films. Hell, I wanna see a Breakfast Club sequel, fuck it! Dust off the brat pack and let's see what John Bender is up to!

If by most, you mean a bunch of forum posters (typically made up of nerdy males 18-35) across the internet, then yeah you' re right.

Beyond that, I'm willing to bet that the remainder of the people actually doesn't give a shit one way or the other about Hollywood's so-called inability to create new ideas. They just wanted to be entertained, and it doesn't matter if that movie is a sequel, a remake, or a new idea.

I think they already blew their Spaceballs load with the animated series. They blew it straight out of their ass because that thing was horrible.

This is me. If the movie is good and I enjoy it I don't really care where the idea for it came from. Sure, it's great when something original comes out of Hollywood but some of my favorite movies are sequels (can't think of any remakes of the top of my head but I'm sure I've enjoyed some of those too)

It's a tad hard to vote with your money these days if you actually plan on seeing movies at all.

For the record though, I was one of the six people who went to see Scott Pilgrim.
