Hey guys so I picked up the PRID Optimus Prime from my local TRU store the other day and I thought that he looked pretty good but was missing a couple obvious paint apps and could have done with a new paint job in general. So I took it upon myself to add the necessary paint apps to make him more screen accurate!

    So far I have done:
-Painted forearms red from the clear blue
    -Painted the chest lights yellow
-Painted some red on the chest
-Painted the proper blue for vehicle mode
-Painted the roof lights for vehicle mode
    -Painted the wheel rims silver
-Removed the spring in the gun

    And now for the pics!

Thanks for looking at what I've done so far! Feel free to comment and critique on my work!

It's choppy, but I can't do any better. Great representation! Love that blue lining!

Sand it a little bit with tissue paper... Then give a new coat with thinned paint. Repeat 3 or 4 times with resting periods of 8 hours between layers... Enjoy

Agreed other than a little "Clean up on aisle 4!" action it looks good.

When I break down and buy this version, I plan to do some similar paint work
    myself on mine.

I'd also paint red on the chunky bits on his sides near/under the windows. It makes a big difference.

Ever since I bought mine, it's been slowly becoming more screen accurate with extra paint apps here and there. I've pretty much emulated what you've done here in addition to work I already did. I also looked up good moments from the show and found more minor things to paint such as little bits of silver here and there.

Dude, just use a red sharpie for the parts that are choppy. I did this same thing with just using a sharpie and it came out awesome. Otherwise, good work. I dig the blue paint on the door panels.

It's an improvement. I think a complete repaint would look a lot better.

Thanks for all the input guys! I'm probably going to do an almost complete repaint on him anyways. I'm gonna work on changing all the dull gray on him to silver starting tonight and I'll post pics of the updates.

Looking good already - if you're gonna repaint the whole thing, I can't wait to see what you pull off... :thumb

Hit the area under the chest where you painted some more. Looks pretty good though. The more you do the better you'll get, trust me. It's better than my first few. :lol
