What made this not too interesting to me... The thing concerns me and that looks good is the front wheels being flipped up and hidden in robot mode; but the bad thing is that the rear wheels are still hanging out.. Am I asking too much if they 'd hide the rear wheels as well ... you know that 'd make it what I 'd call a perfect figure with the old school transformation...
I was just thinking about this very thing... the upcoming waves of Autobots are pretty damn red. It's almost overkill. You'd almost think that they'd opt to do some non-red characters first to break up the monotony. Heh... just imagine if they'd done Powerglide in his G1 colours! I'm not sure what's worse...that or having almost every jet in the line be white with red accents (Powerglide, Jetfire, Silverbolt, Ramjet, new Starscream)... zmog
I like him but there's just something to him that is off for me. I think it's the boxy chest and bumper waist.
Yeah, I've also been chirping about this for a while now. Not so much complaining or anything, but definitely noticing the abundance of red & white, and to a lesser degree, yellow & blue. Let's see here (only counting new molds & not the repaints from old lines)... Optimus Prime (red & blue w/ yellow highlights) Cliffjumper (red) Rodimus (red) Powerglide (Henkei red / Hasbro white & red) Sideswipe (red) Ironhide (red) Ratchet (obviously going to be white & red) Jetfire (white & red) Silverbolt (white w/ red highlights) Inferno (red) Prowl (mainly white) Ultra Magnus (white & blue) Bumblebee (yellow) Sunstreaker (yellow) Mirage (white & blue) Silverstreak (lots of red highlights) Smokescreen (red & blue) That basically only leaves Hound & Grimlock as the standouts with somewhat unique colors. This is another reason why I'm desperately hoping for a nice black Trailbreaker and more grey Dinobots to add to the mix, and wouldn't mind an orange repaint of Inferno into Grapple. Especially since if we ever do get guys like Red Alert, Wheeljack, Jazz, Perceptor, etc., they're also going to be primarly white and/or red. I guess things have ALWAYS been this way since all those color schemes existed since G1 - it just didn't seem as overwhelming as it does now for some reason.
I can't wait for this guy to show up at my doorstep, shouldn't be more than a week hopefully, just shipped out yesterday.
My only gripe is that he doesn't have G2 Autobot insignias, will buy him regardless, looks AWESOME. DN
Both, actually. Most had similar sticker sheets to their G1 releases with the original faction symbols, but they also (usually) had a tampo'ed G2 faction symbol with "Autobot" or "Decepticon" next to it, usually printed on some out-of-the-way part of the toy, sort of the the G2 'authentication' like the old rubsigns. G2 Inferno's is actually hidden inside his cab, in front of the Diaclone driver seat. sooo.... yup.
Whoah! I ordered this guy because I am a classic completist but he's got to be suprise package of the new figs, he looked really quite lame in the original promo shots but here he looks all kinds of awesome! Inferno FTW!
... what? Generation 2 Inferno is one of the few G1 toys re-released in G2 that pretty much retained the original deco. According to the Wal*Mart website listing, Universe Inferno is part of the "Generation 2 Series".
