I am so gagging to hear about a BT version. Please please please let the BT (not BTA, not BT KISS) line be continuing soon...

i love this guy. he looks like he is going to be the best alternator to date! His legs are still a little odd looking to me, however its probably something that will change once I have the guy.

It seems like we have been waiting for Mirage got ages. Didn't Prototypes for him show up around the same time as SKids? Gosh and we have had skids for what seems like a dogs age now.

Here's to seeing him soon on the shelf!

    Yes and no.

The first leaked factory test shots of Skids (whom everyone still believed was Ironhide at that point) popped up in June 2005. Hasbro officially displayed a painted prototype (still without the flame decals) at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2005, and the first in-packaging samples popped up in September 2005, following Sunstreaker and (repackaged) Prowl. The Sunstreaker/Prowl/Skids/Tracks wave was eventually released to US stores in December 2005, after having been available from Hong Kong sellers such as Action-HQ since November.

Mirage was first hinted by Hasbro at SDCC in July 2005. An unpainted (grey) prototype was then officially shown at BotCon in September 2005. January 2006 brought us one of those infamous scans from the Collectors' Club magazine, which included the first stock photo of Mirage in color. In February, Hasbro then displayed a fully painted prototype at Toy Fair. We saw the first in-packaging samples in April 2006, followed by loose (fully painted) test shots in May.

So technically, yes - we saw the first prototype of Mirage three months after we saw the first prototype of Skids.

But the difference is that Skids was a leaked factory test shot (in black and translucent plastic), whereas Mirage was a grey resin proto (a much early stage in the production process) officially displayed by Hasbro.

I love the mold, but for some reason everytime I look at it, I get more of a RID Sideburn vibe than a Mirage one.

Holy...mother...of...living...crap! That looks brilliant! Best design I've seen in the Alt line. And I do declare, that's the lowest Alt I've seen. Total opposite of Prime. Love the quote (You can't catch what you can't see). Now, how long will it take for it to be released? For USA, not long. For me? Too frickin' long. If only Amazon had more Alts for sale. Damn.

Not to nitpick, but the doors don't open correctly.
    Looks awesome though!
Still looking for optimus, probably won't be able to find this one either.

While I don't like the tire knees, this is the first Alternator in a little while that I've really cared about.

I thought that too, until I looked at pics I took of one from a NY auto show. The doors are not gull-wing on the real car, even though the shape suggests they should be.

The only issue I see is that the "V" shaped brace over the engine should remain in place when opening the back of the car, causing it to open "backwards." This is an issue with the photo, not the toy.

Here's a pic I quickly found online to illustrate what I'm talking about.

I love the look of this mold. My only complaint is the baby-blue plastic used for the hands. The dark blue used for the majority of the mold should have been used.

Oh, and Alt Prime refuses to visit upstate NY right now. Yet, I've found the Wave 4 minicon vs. sets, LOC wave 3, the new Star Wars-TFs and even Nemesis Breaker in the last week.

Am I the only one that finds Mirage’s robot mode hideous?

One of my favorite Autobots got shafted in the looks department—to think I thought Sideswipe had it bad. I guess I should be somewhat content with Jazz since they designed him better than I thought possible. He’s beautiful in all modes!

From the neck up, Mirage looks decent, the rest is…booty:(

    Yes.

This needs to start appearing in stores now. Because even then I'm still looking at a two-three month wait for it (I'm having the exact same experience as snkeyes069 here).

The arms move up and down at the elbow, and swivel just at the joint with the wheels.

*grumble* The stripe (which is a vinyl decal rather than paintwork) is just as uneven as on the testshot.

After that Happywell thing they may have kept them on a short leash.

Of course some people alrready have one. :D

Featues 10% more paints apps at only 250% of the Alternators price.

    With REAL METAL screws.
