Hey guys, I thought I would share this with you all.

This mod is actually credited to an eBay member: Manana109

I saw his auction for his custom here: Transformers Movie CUSTOM Repainted Deepspace Starscream

(it's an expired auction, so you may have to log in to actually see the pics)

We've all seen the Neo Shifter arm mod, thanks to members like Crefigz, Limewire, iDD, Insecticons, and many, many others....but this was the first time I had seen the ankle mod!! This mod adds much more articulation to the feet/ankle area for those dynamic poses!!

After I contacted Manana109 and expressed my interest in doing it myself, I went for it. I gotta say it was pretty easy, almost as easy as the arm mod.

I didn't take step by step pics, but the mod is pretty straight forward and almost self explanatory.

It utilizes the ankle joint from the Neo Shifter figure. The biggest part is drilling a hole in the bottom of the leg for the joint to slip into....you lose the bottom screw for the leg, but when you fill in that hole with your glue/epoxy and the Neo joint, it will still be a nice tight bond.

It doesn't effect transformation at all, but lets be honest with ourselves guys....we all know the jet mode on this guy wasn't all that great....if you have already taken the time to do the arm mod, you probably don't care about the look of the alt mode too much....and are more concerned about bot mode to begin with.

Its a cool little mod to do....it took longer from my epoxy to set than it did to do the mod....and IMO, its worth it.

    Have fun with it guys....:thumb

Now that makes me wanna get a deep space starscream. Or any movie starscream mold. The original realease with the big gun hands and almost no articulation turned me off.

    Plowking I envy your ingenuity.

    Keep it up man!

The bot mode looks very cool. Love those neo shifter parts. Use them a lot.

Can the arms fold back under the wings in alt mode?

This is such an awesome and easy to do mod. One thing for those that do do them and want to paint them. DONT USE ALCOHOL TO CLEAN THEM. Working on one(Pk's) and went to clean them up and after only a rinse of alcohol the plastic turned brittle like how some clear plastic does. Had to drill out the broken parts and do it again, good thing the mods are easy to do. LOL

That's really really useful! I've never actually seen a leg joint mod before prior to this. Very nice.

Thanks for sharing. I will have to try this on my own (havn't painted it yet!)

I hope I still have the ankle joints, because I might have used them on something else.

I have a soft spot for ankle articulation, so this is full on awesome. I regret buying that G1 repaint but it may turn into something good now. =)

I only wish the partial neo-shifter I found at the thrift store had ankles. :D  he was missing most of the legs, didn't bother me at the time cause I mostly only wanted the hands, the black paint didn't stay on the white ones. I will have to put up my modded Thundercracker soon.

Could you add a pic of what it looks like underneath in jet mode please? I realize making the bot is better, but i'm curious on how the rest of him looks. Thanks!

Yep guys, Limewire is correct...its that easy!!...and I do believe that you Limewire were one of the first to swap out the whole arm for the Neo arm....no?

I was the same way....I didn't even own a Movie Seeker...I didn't like them....but after seeing the Neo mod...I had to have some :)

Judging by the comparison pics, it may not....the New SS is a little smaller that the first one....but, who knows?

Thanks Mac....but the credit goes to those mentioned above...I just copied what they did is all....still though, thanks bud :thumb

AM has got my back!! :D
That I'm not 100% sure on Tim....when I do TF him, I just place them at the sides....but maybe they can be folded up a different way....?

Ouch!!...man that sucks....I wouldn't have thought the Neo parts would do that....they seem to be made of some good plastics...thanks for the heads up Tony :thumb

Me neither!!...thats why when I saw Manana109's...I had to give it a try. Thanks my lady :D

Actually iDD...you were one of the main people I was thinking of when I posted this.....I was hoping you hadn't started the paint work yet so you could do this mod to your modded SS....its already full of win, and this ankle mod would put it over the top!!

Do it!!!...I look forward to seeing yours too :thumb

If your talking about how he looks with the Neo arms, here is Crefigz's gallery of his movie SS with Neo mod:

    Crefigz's Movie SS

Same arm mod as my G1 SS....cept for his is a lot more prettier than mine to look at.

I think if you wanted to take it a step further, the molds guns could be mounted on the neo arms to mimic the G1 arm mounted cannons.
