Anyone remember this tagline? I believe it was used during the late eighties.

Did you think it was dumb, cool or just didn't care for it either way?

There was something cool about it. It came in around the Pretender/Micromaster era I think.

I'm pretty sure it was for the Pretender packaging. Frankly I think it's kinda stupid, but it was the 80's and G1 was on it's way out.

Not bad for packaging, but the TV commercials where they tried to incorporate the updated slogan into the theme tune sounded pretty awkward.

"The Trans-formers! ... More, mchMORE THAAN Meets theee-eye."

It was sort of to represent one of those "beyond the amazing" transformations the line went through. They aren't just more than meets the eye anymore, oh no, they're bigger, badder, more, much more than meets the eye!

In retrospect, it was just a way to try to reinvigorate the line. I guess in a funny sense it's like how some modern lines throw a subtitle in and revitalize that way.

They started inventing new versions of the theme music for almost every individual gimmick, heh. "Powermaster TransFORMERS! Theeeey've got the power to survive!!!"

I have one of those "Mega Super Collection Figures" (it's Victory Leo if you're wondering) and it's tagline is "The truth whom the eyes met before!" Weird, eh?

Still not as cool as "Not your Father's Autobot!"

    Or rather...not as funny.

In other words "Now, extra gimmicky, because transforming toys just isn't enough anymore!"

What was the Action Masters slogan?

    Exactly what meets the eye...?

I always thought it was the power to "surprise."

    Hmmm. Now I must know.
