Last night while watching TV, I saw an add for the new rebooted Karate Kid movie.
Why do they keep bringing these movies back to life? What's next?

The nostalgia effect. Kids who watched these movies are now the adults in charge of rebooting these franchises. That's what caused the 80s boom during the early 2000s.

    What's a "comback"?

And the Karate Kid is far from classic.

I don't mean classic in "traditional" sense, but it is old.

It's all about taking something that was popular back in the day and making it into a movie to make a ton of money.I mean what could they come out with next,a Smurfs movie? What's that? Oh hell, they are coming out with a Smurfs movie? Wow,that should be epic.

I think Smurfs would be cool if done in 3D animation and in 3D pictures. If they were done any other way I don't think they would come out as good. Oh, and have somebody like Jim Carry perhaps do Gargamel.

Something that never lived can't die. 80% of movies are based on something. If they aren't remakes, there an adaptation of a book or short story.

I'm guessing that the people behind the remakes figure that they can do a better job with today's superior movie technology as opposed to the original movies.

If that abysmal "TDTESS" remake (which is NOTHING WHATSOEVER like the Sci-Fi masterpiece the original is) is any indication, those people seem to have the wrong idea of how to do it. But they're gonna, and there's nothing you can do about it, outside of not watching them.

To cash in on the nostalgia value and build in fan base and what not.

    It's totally for the $$$$

    What's next? I'll tell you what's next:
    MiB 3
    Gremlins 3
    Ghostbusters 3
Akira Part I & Part II
    Tron 2
    A-Team
    TMNT
    Creature From The Black Lagoon
    And a shit-ton more...

But, honestly, I want to see all of them, especially Akira I & II. Why is it that I love what people hate, like 3D and remakes?

What movies would you like to see come-back and what do you think should be left alone?

I wouldn't mind seeing Cannonball Run being remade. Sad that 98% of the original cast is gone, but then again, the cars they used are out-of-date anyway. I'd love to see the Lamborghini duel-chick team be done with a Murcielago, Jennifer Aniston, and maybe, Cameran Diaz?

I think Jackie Chan could still play his original part, but would need a new partner. Thought it was stupid that they had a Chinese actor play a Japanese character. I think Jackie hated that as well, but he did such an awesome job anyway.

A-Team look's promising from the trailer I saw last weekend while watching Iron Man 2.

    Gremlins 3? I don't know about that.
MIB 3? Who would you team up with Will Smith? Would Will even do a third one?
Ghostbusters 3, I can't see it working without the original cast, but who knows.

    Blah, blah, blah.

I was at a local hobby shop and they offered me two free tickets to an early screening of the Karate kid. I politely declined.
