He's too small but I may cave and get him anyway. Despite his short-comings (geddit) he still looks like the perfect Grimlock.

What's annoying is that by buying him we're pretty much saying to TakaraTomy that we're happy to put up with their "2/3rds of a Masterpiece" figures and hence I'll be surprised if future figures ever end up at the MP-01/MP-05 size again. If I could boycott the figure and knew that TT would assume poor sales were down to the size I would but they'd probably only assume that the sales lapse was down to the chosen character.

    Ho hum.

PS. Has it been confirmed that neither hand has articulation?

exactly. Prime & Megs are in their own category and I'm glad they're in scale to each other in robot mode. IMO, Robot mode size for the Seekers and Grimlock are perfect just the way they are. There's nothing we can do about the price now. The only option is to not buy it and that probably just means Tak probably stops making MP figures.

I just hope the people complaining about the price aren't the same ones determined that he belongs on display with the Classics

He looks great, but the size is a big let-down for me.

Mine is paid for ($157 including shipping) as a big birthday present to myself. Sure, he could be bigger, but mine is going on the shelf with the later Alternators (and will replace BT Grimlock) so he'll be great for that.

Now, give us a Masterpiece Soundwave and then retool it for Masterpiece Blaster and I'll be happy forever more.

I said it earlier, can't wait for mine!
I think the size is perfect...I mean any larger and he'd look like he doesn't belong with the rest of your collection.

So how does the eye gimmick work? I was hoping to add LED lights to his eyes.
Someone also said working lights...where are those?

In dinosaur mode, the top of his head flips up to reveal red and blue eyes on a rotating disc thing.

I don't think we've seen pictures of the eye mechanism in robot mode yet.

There appears to be a red LED in his right hand, which can light up the sword and gun.

Well, would have liked it a little bigger but Grimlock is still awesome. Looking forward to this one from BBTS.

In bot mode there is a picture with Grimmy looking to the side that shows a red lever in the back of his head. The lever is angled down slightly with the blue eyes showing so I would assume the putting that lever up would move the piece that the two colors are on and show the red.

Not true. If you look at some of the pictures you can see a joint at the top of the fingers to allow them to move. Also in some pictures his hand is open more so than others.

what does Iron Maiden have to do with Grimlock? I mean kinda random to just throw that in there. That being said, 'Charlette the Harlot.'
    ______________________-

Grimlock looks beautiful, just awesome really. Though like what's being said he strikes me as more of a Leader figure then a Masterpiece. If Hasbro brings him over for $50-$60 like they did with Starscream, I'd definitely make an effort to get him. But at the $160. mark it's very easily passed by.

Plus I'm very happy with my Animated Grimlock, so I don't have a burning desire to NEED another Grimlock.

Agreed though that he'd look really good with the Classics/Universe line.

Yeah. In stop-motion. In a model of the Roman Coliseum. With all the appropriate gladiatorial weapons laying about on the ground. And with that cheesy fight music from classic Star Trek playing in the background. And Mickey totally fighting dirty to make up for his diminutive stature.

Later, whoever wins the fight has to be questioned repeatedly by Columbo about the suspicious death of the loser.

And it all leads back to... Feralstorm! (Who totally would have gotten away with it had it not been for that persistent Columbo always being way more clever than he seemed.)
