That's probably the biggest news in the story about Transformers Animated which we are currently running.

I was expecting that they would be fighting humans. It fits in with the initial "TF: Heroes" plot. That is, if that's still where they're going with this thing.

We could be getting some interesting toys out of this series.

I've decided to reserve judgement on this series until I see more from it. However so far I'm not that hopeful.

    Just give it a chance...just give it a chance...just give it a chance...>_<

I try not to pass judgement so early, really I do. Seriously though, the more I hear of it the harder it seems it will be to give it my good ol' three chance technique (i.e. watch the first three eps and decide on it).

Ah well, at least the toy line COULD be interesting.

If next they tell us that the Transformers are really people in costumes that allow them to have super morphing powers...

I will go and punch the head of planning for this show.

    *snorts with laughter*

So, Megatron is going to be sub-villian? Dr Archeville is going to be the shows main nemesis? I don't see how this is really going to work as a toyline, if there's going to be humans as main baddies, unless Hasbro is willing to make human action figures in a Transformers line, something I am opposed to, really. Transformer toys should TRANSFORM, not be humans (or head/targetmasters again, lets leave those concepts in the past).

I imagine that the reasons for this setup may well be have come down from paramount execs who want the deceps left well alone ready for the movie sequel.

No decepticons = no writers toes getting stood upon.

Its a waste of time having any feelings on this issue until we learn more. Its not like we have any say in what happens in the desing process of this show.

If its going to suck, its going to suck.

And if they surprise us and its decent, well, then go them!

Either way, we can do jack about it now, so its much easier to make a mental note, and then put it on the back burner for a long time until more info leaks out.

This is my experience from the Bay movie. Wait and see. I am sure many people here, can say the same.

Maybe the Autobots will fight Al Queda ? Is Al Queda a real world "C.O.B.R.A" ?

    MUST ... resist .... urge .... to ..... SCREAM!
Right, Autobots versus humans I can buy.
But setting the Decepticons as 'sub-villains' is wrong.

The idea of Transformers "defending earth" is as old as the G1 series, so (to me) it makes sense that they'd tackle enemies other than the Decepticons. I'm not sure about then non-Decepticon episodes outnumbering the 'traditional' ones, but I still think the idea has legs.
I guess it depends on audience reaction. More Decepticon stories might creep in if that's what proves popular. I just hope the "human" enemies aren't stupid cliches with robotic arms, cybernetic eyes or "toxic sludge" backpacks.
Annnnd, will this mean "human villain" figures in the toyline??

Could be meat, could be cake. :)

Not sure what to say about the "Superheroesque robots save the world from bad humans" concept, but new things are a good way to refresh a line AND piss off a fan base, so it's gonna be worth a look at least. :)

Hey, "Mighty Orbots" was pretty cool, wasn't it? ;)

It's pretty damn funny that they talk about humor like it's a new concept in Transformers. It's been part of pretty much every worthwhile TF media incarnation, from funny banter in G1 to cartoony visual gags in BW to bits of ditzy anime business in RiD thru Cybertron to multimillion dollar CGI stumbling around a backyard in the movie. I'm glad there will be humor in the show, as that makes it more enjoyable to watch for me, though I hope this doesn't mean the show will be heavily pushing the bounds of comedy versus action, like RiD often did.

Oh god. I bolded the "adding humor" part, and I just KNOW that there's gonna be some moments in which the characters get superdeformed or something like in Teen Titans. UGH!

And as for the Decepticons actually being sub-villains? FUCK NO. It's Autobots vs. Decepticons, not Autobots against freakin' Cobra.

This cartoon's gonna suck. Every cartoon made by Cartoon Network since 2004 has been nothing more than dog shit. And Transformers: Animated won't be an exception.

I saw this coming a MILE AWAY.......the humor- yes, the Autobots battling humans- yes..but the Deceptions playing second fiddle? Hell no.

And this line got me: "the robots will have a lot more human qualities".Well, yea, we humans will be rubbing off on them. That's obvious..the Autobots want to know the human condition.

It sounds like to me that this cartoon is going to make the Autobots a little bit too human if you ask me. *SIGH*

The more things change, the more that the Transformers needs to stay the same.

I do not think we should be that worried about the "adding humor" part. Beast Wars did it quite well in my opinion.
