Wow, that figure is really growing on me. I haven't been too impressed with Animated Prime so far, but these pictures have done a lot to raise my opinion of him. Even the head sculpt is starting to look good.

    Agreed.

If the 2-pack is out come Christmas, I just might pick it up when I'm down in the US. That way I can get the first ep. DVD.

I'm not a fan of the goatee looking thing. It actually looks more like a silver beard with a long blue goatee growing out of it.

Other than that I love this design.

I kinda hope, though, that the head on the Earthmode Prime is approximately the same size with the same joint attachment.

Though I prefer the design with faceplate, the mouth design is growing on me - and then I could swap the heads whenever I wanted.

    It is the Deluxe version.

The more I see this toy, the more I want him. I just pray he's the only toy I plan on buying from the Animated line.

his bot mode is growing on me a lot, looks pretty nice! His chin (and the rest of their chins) still kills me, I wish it ended where the first bar passes across.
Alt mode still looks too much like bot from behind.
Being Prime he'll be on my buy list from Animated.

The head looks much better in these shots than the previous ones. I'm not a big fan of his cybertronian vehicle mode, but the robot mode is pretty solid.

Does the axe fold up and store in alt mode?

Opinion-wise, I really like how they're matching the look of the toy to the look of the show. That's what cartoon toys should look like.

That alt mode is still complete crap....but I like it a hell of a lot more than I did when I first saw pics of it.

The figure and the rest of the line really gives me high hopes, however, for what our favorite armcannon-wielding despot will look like as a toy.

I'm not sure I dig the head/face mold... reminds me of Batman (not the Burton Batman, either).

The alt mode looks like a young War Within Prime.

"Being Prime he'll be on my buy list from Animated."

In my opinion, its this thinking that gets us this sh!tty go-bots inspired Prime! I'm telling ya, crap in a box, put some red spinkles on it, call it Prime, Convoy, or Optimus anything and it will sell! Sheesh....

Face-plate-less Prime is still kind of odd to me.
I like the shoulders in robot mode though, reminds me of WWI.
For now I think I'll hold out for the Earth-mode version.

It's highly doubtful, but since we're getting a Deluxe release of Earth-mode Animated Optimus Prime, with a very similar transformation, I wonder if it might be possible to swap the heads, in case you wanted a Cybertronian version with a faceplate. Doubtful, but I kind of hope so.
