While I mostly agree with this, there are some Dreamworks films I really enjoy. Surely they lack the charm of Pixar, but they can still be pretty fun.

And out of ALL of those, I'll only see How to Train Your Dragon 2 & 3 and Kung-Fu Panda 2.

well let's see, the first panda movie came out in 2008, the next one comes out in 2011,

so assuming they will each be coming out every 3 years like that... with six of them, that makes the last of them to be released about 2026... when the original fans of the movie, aka the kids, 8 year olds, will be, 26 year olds...

they are really banking on those 26 year olds to still LIKE animation, huh?

    :lol

It sounds more like there are plans to do more stories with these characters rather than "there will be X sequels".

I can think of other cases where things were planned for sequels, that did not happen. Shen Mue. Xenosaga. There's two. Xenosaga was planned for six games. It got three, because the second was unpopular enough to kill off the series.

Kung Fu Panda is planned for six movies. It's had one, got the second coming along. The same fate could befall it. Just because the creator wants to make six doesn't mean they'll get six.

Well, if they think they're gonna make six Kung Fu Panda's, they're crazy. Who knows, the Kung Fu Panda's might start flopping after 2, so unless each film is a guarranteed success and makes up the budget and advertising and marketing, it ain't gonna fly.

The first Kung Fu Panda was actually good, and How to Train Your Dragon is loads better then the other stuff they vomit, but I'd stick to a 2 for both of them and nothing more. If their sequels impresses me as much as the original, then by all means do a third if you can pull off a sequel. Madagascar 2 proved they aren't completely incompetent with sequels. But they're crazy if they think they'll be able to get away with six Kung Fu Panda's. The only good Dreamworks movies have been Shrek 1 and 2, Madagascar 2, Panda and Dragon, and that's it.

Katzenburg's not confirming anything, he's just saying he wants to make these movies. Kung Fu Panda 2's next year, Dragons 2 and Madagascar 3 are in production, and that's it. They're not gonna get far on sequels, look at how terrible Disney got with their legion of DTV sequels.

This IMO silly planning of theirs is yet another reason why Pixar always has my vote.

Now if only the big wigs would work out another Wallace and Gromit movie. THAT I could get behind, a full-length sequel.

I will debase myself in gratitude for any sequels or spin offs for How To Train Your Dragon or Monsters Vs. Aliens, easily Dreamworks Animation's best efforts.

The rest of them can go and die in a fire.

Then why the hell are you going around saying that there WILL be... they only WANT to.

I like the Shrek movies, the first Kung Fu Panda was OK. Madagascar 2 was epicly funny, Over the Hedge was cute but not much more, and the rest were forgettable.
