The letters column in Beast Wars #4 confirmed what most suspected (and what the last couple of pages of issue 4 made crystal clear)...more Beast Wars comics are on the way later this year. And in two different series to boot! Simon and Don will continue the Beast Wars story this fall after Stormbringer wraps up. It's said that IDW believes Beast Wars lends itself more to miniseries than an ongoing, but again, the conclusion of the Gathering nicely sets up the potential for many continuations with these characters. On top of that, we're also getting BW profile books with text by Furman and Ben Yee. Nice.

That's a great idea bringing in Ben Yee on this. Can't wait to read that one.

But it's over already? I'm confused. How many issues were planned for "The Gathering"?

YAY! It's like Christmas! And I completely agree with IDW that beast wars works better as a mini series. Can't wait fo the profile books!

It was always going to be four issues. We knew that from the beginning.

Personally I think it's a smart decision. The storytelling in Beast Wars has been much tighter and more concise than all the 6 issue miniseries we've gotten in the Dreamwave/IDW years. The 6 issue minis always feel padded out to me, like they're stretching four issues of content into six.
