YouTube - Moon Trailer (HD)
I thought this was based on a DS game.
Amazing trailer, I hope the movie makes it here.
Ooh this looks GOOD!
When is it coming out in theaters?
SXSW winners scare me. I live in Austin and usually the stuff that is praised is the stuff you want to stay away from. Then again, maybe I have lived here too long and am tired of the self-proclaimed filmmakers that claim that their stuff is for smart people, and when you watch their movies you realize that what he meant to say was that it was for people who are "high".
Interesting...space movies always seem to grab my attention... I hope to see it!
Aw crap. It all just hit me.
This whole trailer reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode with 3 astronauts...
That, or Michael Bay's the Island.
But I sure as hell hope it's not like either of those or else it fails for originality.
ummm pretty sure this will be nothing like "The Island"
I dunno. I just saw another trailer where he's *POTENTIAL SPOILERS* playing ping pong with another of himself, presumably the guy he finds in the out of bounds lunar rover.*POTENTIAL SPOILERS*
Wow, that does look interesting.
Uh, you sure he's just not going crazy and starting to see and imagine things that aren't really there from being isolated in space for too long?
Clones made to man mining stations. He's not going home.... he's getting recycled.
this sort of stuff just isn't clever any more. Doesn't mean it wont be a good movie... but if they are depending to much on the revealing 'what's going on'... ending twist, it's going to be lame.
I'd like to see something more straight forward in the relm of sci fi. Would have been cool if it was more like 'Silent Running or the set up for 'MST3K.... as in man living on the moon with his robots.
I sure hope it's not and he really is just losing his goddamn mind. Otherwise, FAIL for originality.
Why can't we have another sci-fi astronaut movie that just tries really really hard to screw with the viewer's head?
Kinda like some Event Horizon plus some Silent Hill 2 and Jacob's Ladder, minus the killing, more so the WTF is going on? stuff. With it all eventually ending well in the end so we're not like WTF? at an odd twisty ending and we're more entertained by the crazy ass ride the film took us through, like Fight Club was.
There is one like that coming out this year. It's called 'Pandorum'.
It was at SXSW so this may be the case.
Why do we need that? We already have the overrated Event Horizon (a film that at the time of release reminded me of a recycled Next Gen episode).
Because Guy A counting down his days till he reaches home only to either:
a. Finds his own dead body, only to then realize that he's died and cannot escape his insanity until he accepts that he is really dead
b. Finds himself cloned only to realize that he's not a real human and is going to be replaced by a new version of himself
has already been done.
I'd want to see something like 1408 -in space.
Or say he witnesses an explosion on Earth, can't make contact, and worries that he's the last human in existance. Something other then the boringly predictible, which I think we're doomed too all too often.
This looks really cool. I don't mind if they work cloning into it (although it could also be an isolation-induced insanity thing), as long as they don't Shyamalan the whole thing up so that the reveal of him as a clone (or whatever) is the main thrust of the film, and instead actually explore the concept. I won't care that 'cloning has been done before' as long as what they do with it here is actually interesting.
On a sidenote, somebody mentioned Silent Running... apparenty the director (who incidentally is David Bowie's son, which means nothing to me, but somebody might care) cites it as a big influence on the film.
Word on the street is that the twist happens in the first 25 minutes. From there, they see where they can run with it until near towards the film's end where another twist happens.
Whatever it may be I just hope it's original.
