How would a toy story prequel work?

My Guess is how they created Monsters.INC in the first place, the energy crisis and stuff could be explored.

Also a Toy Story Prequel doesn't work really.

Toy Story prequel = No Buzz = Not worth it.
You need Buzz, Woody, and Andy. Without those three it can't work. That's why I don't want a sequel either.

Especially in the face of Toy Story 3. Any further continuation of that series undermines the sense of closure that TS3 achieves.

A prequel to Monsters INC, on the other hand, works. There's a perfectly natural story that can come from how the two met, and the world is imaginative enough that a new adventure will feel just as fresh. A sequel, on the other hand, would feel artificial, given how the first film ended.

They really should just make Newt. I was really looking forward to that one...

    That's good.

Hopefully it also explores Monsters INC's origins.

Huh. I love monsters and despise school/college settings; I'm not too sure what to think about this.

Though it's Pixar. Pixar can't not be amazing.

Pixar made 3 movies about living toys work. I'm confident that they know what they're doing.

Though at the same time, I really don't want to see Pixar fall into the same habit that Dream works has with churning out pointless sequels.

God, I hope it doesn't get overly sad like Pixar's last two movies.
Oh, and I hope they still make Newt eventually. That sounded like it was going to be awesome. Pixar should stick to original movies, rather than sequels IMO.

Disney•Pixar announced today that the Monsters, Inc. prequel Monsters University has been pushed back from November 2, 2012 to June 21, 2013. There are no other movies scheduled around that date yet.
