Yeah, I read about this. Pretty cool in my opinion. Monopoly just became badass.

Neat. No way in hell this plan would have worked with the Japanese, though.

cool read and Nacht is correct at the time of World war 2 the Japanese had not signed the Geneva convention and that coupled with the cultural thinking of surrendering being dishonorable meant prisoners were treated as lower than dirt case in point The Bataan Death march, also prisoners of war held by the japanese rarely got red cross care packages as the Japanese troops usually confiscated them for their own use

Dude, the Japanese treated prisoners horribly. Look up Unit 731 to see my point. That shit made me lose a little bit of my faith in humanity.

Thats a pretty awesome story. And it totally fits in with The Great Escape, where POWs duty was to escape, and basically play merry havoc to tie up enemy resources.

I wish I had one of these 'special edition' monopoly sets.

That's pretty awesome. Wonder if they still fought over who got to be the race car, though.

umm i stated they did the japanese in WW2 were bastards of the highest order as for the Bataan Death march more the 20,000 prisoners of war died in a forced march in tropical heat while most of these were Filipino soldiers a fair number of American men died as well and yes unit 731 were the worst right up there with the bastards running the Nazi death camps to my mind a bit worse

Check out Charles Fraser-Smith and if possible his book, "The Secret War of Charles Fraser-Smith." He was the guy responsible for acquiring a lot of these sort of items, and in some cases thinking them up.
