Dang, I was hoping Hungry Hungry Hippos would be a send-up of the zombie apocalypse genre, featuring a bunch of hippos getting infected with the zombie contagion and devouring every human they can find.

    In a world...
...where humans are at the top of the food chain...
    ...a new predator shall rise.
    This summer...
    ...they HUNGER.
    Hungry Hungry Hippos

Starring Samuel L Jackson, Sir Ian McKellan, Seth MacFarlane, Todd MacFarlane, Tom Cruise, Viggo Mortensen, Tom Green, Red Green, Orlando Bloom, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Megan Fox, Judy Dench, Seth Rogan, Joe Rogan and CGI Orson Welles.

    Sound effects by Frank Welker

Original score by Justin Bieber, Skrillex and the ghost of Mozart

Co-directed by Michael Bay, Uwe Boll and M. Night Shymalan

Screenplay by Stephanie Meyer, EL James and Suzanne Collins

Based on a short story by Stephen King

None of you asked for it but you are all getting it. The original was such a resounding success that Yogi Bear 2 has been given the go ahead with Dukes of Hazards director Jay Chandrasekhar in the big chair. Who is excited?

The director of a crappy adaptation directing the sequel to a crappy adaptation. (and Hollywood can't figure why it's losing money on ticket sales?)

The only one that makes sense to me is a theatrical Action Man movie.

Hungry Hungry Hippos. Come on Hasbro! Hungry Hungry Effing Hippos! I've been defending a lot of bad and unoriginal movies lately because I like to be optimistic, but this is just a new low. Who asked for this? I'm pretty sure everyone was joking when they said Hungry Hungry Hippos should be made into a movie after Battleship. I'm not saying they can't make it into a good animated movie for kids, but I am asking why they're adapting this when I have so many original ideas for movies that I think would be awesome to see on the big screen and possibly profitable for the studio. Let's forget about me for a second here, how many aspiring filmmakers are out there with some good ideas and them get shot down by the studio or they get a brand name just slapped on as the title of the movie? I'm ok with adaptations into movies, but board games aren't really suited for movies that well.

Monopoly could be good if it's like Wall Street, but I doubt it will ever be as good as that.

Action Man has potential because I've heard that it's basically the British G.I. Joe. I think Action Man could be a really fun summer movie.

We've seen rumours of a Monopoly film for ages, I'll only believe it is happening when I see a trailer.

    Transformers, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

Now every single box game and old 80's cartoon is gonna be revived. Perfect. I do have to say Action Man doesn't sound like such a bad idea, but Hippos? Really? Hippos? They're probably gonna be an alien race codenamed "Hippos" because they are huge, and they eat metals or buildings or whatever.

I'm betting all the old 80's franchises were going to be brought back simply because big companies don't want to take risks with experimenting on the market with new stuff. The fact the 2007 TF movie did so well just encouraged that. Heck, if I recall correctly, the success of M. Bay with Transformers spurred Hasbro into seeking more "creative consultants" to re-imagine new versions of the other lines (so if anybody was still wondering how events conspired to make My Little Pony become a dominating force on the internet, you can blame Michael Bay for that, too)

Yeah, so much money to burn on movies based on board games, one of which already sunk (*rimshot*), but not enough money to invest in the toy lines to keep up the same quality.

Yeah, "Monopoly" I heard about being on the board (pardon the expression) quite a while ago...and I always joked about where my Hungry Hungry Hippos movie is. But I never actually believed that the Hollywood studio system would ever become THAT F***ING DESPERATE.

Mark my words, candy-bar movies will be next. We'll get Michael Bay's MILKY WAY, McG's SNICKERS, and BUTTERFINGER from those same f***ing Two Of The Six Writers Of "Scary Movie" before the decade is out. Just wait.

Monopoly could actually work if done in a style like Wall Street.

    Hungry Hungry Hippos just NO.
