Not sure if anyone's tried this yet, but what would it look like if you put transparent colored tape/vinyl over Liquid Chrome? Less for sealing it and more for creating a color effect (I'm thinking for robot-mode eyes, maybe head/tail lights).

I may give it a shot this weekend with like, packing tape or something similarly thin. I'd have to find something I've chromed and don't mind messing up, though! :D

    Same.
And probably more than 2 hours, several days, few pages each day.
I may grab a few cheap figures as a test.

See, my takeaway was that Alclad Gloss Klear Kote is what is needed.
Then others say Aqua Gloss. (SOB. I may need to read the whole thread again. <bangs head into keyboard>)
Carefully dabbed on with real-hair expensive brush.

Or let it cure without a clear coat for like 6 months?

2-3 months will do. It develops its own clear coat that takes a while to fully cure.

Applying a clear coat too soon will ruin the chrome effect and end up looking cloudy or just like normal silver paint.

:lol  Yeah... when I started this thread, I had no idea it would get this big or have so many responses. I do try to keep the original post up to date and plan to test the ideas of other members. I wouldn't get worried about the chrome. It's as easy as drawing it on and waiting.

I'm patient, so I have no problems touching up one old G1 figure (reason I'm doing this), and letting it sit for months before doing another.

But here's my main question: do I need to keep it dust-free? I'd assume so. But then comes the issue of off-gassing if held too long in a plastic container, perhaps causing odd chemical change or prolongued drying time. So ... yeah. Catch 22? At minimum, perhaps a week in a sealed container, then go ahead and let the dust settle on it for months?

A video just went up showing a Molotow refill being used in an airbrush. I did a search in the thread and didn't see anyone mention doing that and thought some of the people here would be interested. It also had another option for a clear coat that seemed to work well.

Yeah I mentioned it. But I made this thread for those without an airbrush since this is a marker.

Sorry, I missed that. Do you want me to delete that post to keep the thread clean? I thought it might be interesting but I don't want to come in and drag the discussion off topic.

In the video he doesn't really explain his clear coat. Did he dilute it, and with what?

I don't know. I couldn't find out by rewatching or looking it up. It might be a 6:1 mix of clear paint and a hardener. The answer is probably in one of his older videos.

Looks like he's got a 6:1 ratio for the clear coat. I'll look through the comments to see if there's anything starte, and if not, I'll ask.

So he says that the clear is 6:1; 6 parts clear To 1 part hardener. Must work out pretty well!! Screenshot_20181103-214351_YouTube.jpg
