You've been reading the thread, right? The only clear coat that doesn't seem to dull it is alclad. Future isn't as bad as some others but it's going to dull the shine somewhat. His post was saying that it only seemed to take it down about 10%. If that's good enough for you, future is cheaper and easier than most other options. But if you really want to get the best mirror shine possible, alclad's clear coat is the way to go.

10% doesn’t seem to bad. It depends on how much alclad costs lol

    $10 for 4oz on Amazon.
Can it be brushed on, or does it need applied with an airbrush?
I've never used anything from Alclad, which is why I'm curious.

@SPLIT LIP brushed it on and said it worked great. There was some brush marks showing though but no loss of reflectivity. He didn't provide any pics and I haven't tried myself so I haven't put the results in the opening post.

    DURABILITY UPDATE!
It's been months since I've started this thread and using these markers. Today I handled a Dr. Wu blaster (for first edition TFPrime Optimus) that I chromed along with the original test spoons without any clear.... NO FINGERPRINTS. It has been months and it doesn't mean that the chrome can withstand the friction of transformation, but after a LONG time of curing I can freely handle this blaster.

Another update. Since I'm able to freely touch the Dr.Wu blaster I decided to try future on it as a clear since there's no doubt that it's cured after over four months.... I used a good brush to apply the future and there's no difference to the reflectivity.

Picked up two of these markers at HobbyLobby the other day. Tried them out on a few different sample pieces and I am incredibly impressed.

I'm going to keep trying it out on different items, but this is going to be incredibly handy. What a great product.

I really hope they make a yellow or gold chrome marker in the future.

    Gold chrome would be awesome.

I've used the Chrome pens on the new Dinobots, wheel rims, teeth and various parts as highlights. I'm very impressed with them.

I did try touching it after a week of application and it left prints. I removed it with some isopropyl alcohol and just started over. One thing I did notice was that the 4mm pen left visible lines while the 2mm didn't on large sections. Maybe I have to prime the pen more?

I'm waiting for my Alclad order to arrive to apply it so I don't have to worry about it any longer.

Curing time is about two weeks, longer for better durability. I posted some info about that earlier in this thread and @artimus prime’s posts just above yours are some great info.

These markers are amazing, have fun!!

Got the alclad klear coat and finally got around to using it. It really dulled the chrome to the point that I wish I had never bothered with the chrome pen. I let the chrome set up for well over a month. I used a brush to lightly paint the klear coat on and it looks like crap. At least the alclad can be used for loose joints lol

Which clear coat was it? The Klear Kote or the Aqua Gloss?

I ordered the Aqua Gloss. WellW see if that keeps the Chrome's shine.
