I remember having similiar problems with Classics Mirage, the catch on him can sometimes cause him to go into a messed up position he can't get out of. I removed the catch but he doesn't transform as tightly now.

Is that the only one they've found with this "variation"? If so, I'd say its a fluke due to poor QC.

Sounds worrying! I was hoping Deluxe BRAWL's crappy shoulder pins would be the only trouble with the toys.

I'd like to see straight forward side-by-side comparison pictures of the two, with appropriate "good" and "bad" labels over the relevent image. When these make it to Blighty I want to be able to check for myself.

Good reason to wait and get this guy in a store, not online. I'm glad someone caught it and posted!

Hmmm I'll have to check my BB during lunch. The automorph gimmick on mine was extrememly hard to activate, I wonder if this has something to do with it.

Ish, I have a bad one.

But it's not broken yet...wonder what'll finally snap it.

I guess I'll see if the Takara one's the 'good' version of that component, and go from there.

After transforming mine, I broke it. The Automorph spring is oversprung now and he won't clip together AT ALL in vehicle mode. I have a couple more coming in by mail (kitbashes) and I hope ONE of them doesn't have the problem. At least Bumblebee pegs together better then Brawl.

I'm terrified that the bumblebee I ordered off amazon might have this problem when it gets here. any tips on avoiding the breakage, or any way to reinforce the part?

It still makes no sense to me. How can adding plastic make it weaker? It's exactly the same as the correct one, but with more plastic. You'd think that would make it stronger. How is it that the one with thicker plastic breaks, yet the one with the smaller plastic doesn't?

from what I read, it seems that while the plastic was lengthened to take up more space, it's also thinner now.

You forgot to count Brawl with his impossible-to-peg-into-place shoulder pegs. He is, in my opinion, the biggest piece of crap thus far to be in the movie toys. I can't see WHY Hasbro let this figure (Brawl) or even Bumblebee pass QC. I think with the movie going on, they have dropped their toy quality (and Quality Control) A LOT!

Well, it weakens the spring and the mechanics involved in the Automorph process.

I second that deluxe Brawl is a hunk of junk. The tabs go in fine on mine, but they don't stay there for long. He can't even hold his shape well in vehicle form. as for BB, I have the bad one, but hopefully by being gentle with him I won't break him. The thing that bothers me is the added paint aps to make him look old. I want to remove that. Any suggestions?

    My Brawl is perfect.

as for the paint, remove it with rubbing alchohol on a Q-tip

Thanks to this thread, when I bought my Bumblebee, I made sure to check the problem area before purchasing it. My Bumblebee is perfect.
