I think the number of times members have been scammed by low-priced TF auctions is likely well into the thousands and has been well documented in MANY threads on the boards.

As a consumer, sure - it's not your fault for getting scammed if ebay presents the auction as legit. However, I think it's similar to meeting someone in a dark parking lot at 2AM to buy the newest iphone for $100 - and then getting robbed. I think consumers have to take a bit of responsibility and apply some common sense - both based on the auction/transaction itself, but also taking into account that TF auction scams are pretty common.

I do feel bad for anybody that gets scammed - but then if they didn't heed the many warnings all over the boards - it's not really much of a surprise.

I also agree that the scams, claims, refunds, etc - are all just going to to drive up ebay and paypal fees. Ebay/paypal are never going to come out and say that they are increasing fees due to X, but it seems like a very logical response. insurance companies increase premiums when their claims increase. Not sure why ebay/paypal wouldn't do the same...

In any case, whether we agree or not - it's all good. The scammers will keep winning so long as the gullible continue to press that 'buy it now' button...

Seems logical, but has it happened...without the 'due to' part? Seems to me the positive is outweighing the negative otherwise they'd do something to prevent it...or at least dissuade it.

PayPal fees haven't remained stagnant and neither have eBay fees. A company will find a way to recoup losses and the "insurance" is a loss. That's all I was saying. It's just how business works. You're obviously a smart shopper. But eventually, if not already, you'll end up paying more for ebay stuff because of the people who fall for scam after scam and use that insurance.

MMC Mirage is very close to 1/24 scale, same as the Alternators.

Mirage is bigger compared to standard
MP cars (which are around 1/32 scale).

Bot mode with the Alternators, not so much.

When was the alternate head released??

That face sculpt looks so much better that the soft sculpt that originally came out.

Funny story... so the gloss coat on the back of his head on mine started chipping ... so I started messin with it, and it eventually chipped the Liger tampo right off. So now I have to use the blank back of the head, which is a bummer.

iirc, alternate heads for Sphinx came with OcMax Trailbreaker and Hoist, one for the original darker blue Sphinx, one for the lighter "toon" color Sphinx.

Yes, it was ridiculously hard to separate them.
I finally managed to finagle them away from each other with a tiny screwdriver.
Pretty sure I damaged some little parts of the plastic, but I didn't care as I was not going back to the stock head.

I used to have the alternate face but to me it just didn't fit with the MP esthetics of my other figures. I thought it looked great on the red version but I didn't like it on the blue version. I am not a fan of the stock face either so I decided to remove the paint on the upper half as homage to g1 toy.

No. It was a bonus with somebody else. Trailbreaker has one (I believe the darker hued one), and I don't recall who had the second lighter one.

It is possible it was included later if they did a reissue (beyond the original lighter reissue which also did not have the second "cat" head).

As far as I know, only red "diaclone" came with this head.
