The shades of green and yellow look better to me compared to FT Apache. Almost everything looks better to me compared to Apache, actually. I'm really digging this thing.

 

Not digging that face. Looks like someone stuffed the helmet full of bread dough and carved a face in it.

 

The body is great, not keen on either of the faces. It's definitely not on the same level of terrible as Big Spring but it doesn't scream Springer to me. Maybe the final product will be sharper?

If not, I'll consider XTB's offering instead. I like the render they have shown off, just hoping they won't give him big smoochy lips like they do with all their male robots...

As a side note, why it hard for 3P to get Springer's face right?

I disagree with everything after the first sentence. Because I'm not even holding Apache to the same standards as MMC's Springer, I'm holding it and MMC's to the same standard as Open and Play's- intuitive transformation and a design that doesn't compromise shoulder articulation. And besides that, there are plenty of companies out there engineering clever, intuitive, and even fun transformations besides MMC... a couple off the top of my head would be Maketoys, Unique Toys, DX9, and surprisingly even XTB lately. Sorry, I'm not cutting FT any slack for coming up with some of the most pain-in-the-ass and needlessly complicated engineering just because they make heavy and heavily-painted robots.

 

The thing is, open and play is 70$ and this is 130$

Don't like the vertical split in the thighs...it looks bad and the two halves should have a better join...or a side join. The simple Jack face is also... eh.

And the stupid an crunch crotch thrust pose looks awful.

Also, the OX line has consistently disappointed me quality wise.

It looks alright as a figure otherwise in the other poses, good even. Bit of a conundrum this one!

 

At least Saltus got the face color right. I can't believe some couldn't tell the difference between olive color and grey color.
Plus MP-22's Daniel figure fits in the cockpit/driver seat.

 

Agreed! And let them be really GOOD ratchets, too. Ones that can easily support the weight and be spaced properly.

The more I look at this guy, the more I like it. The face doesn't bother me, at least in this pic. I like it. I eel a bit impatient with this coming out because I can't wait to dump Apache. And I already have a buyer waiting to buy mine. I hate the greens used, the ugly pale yellow, the long-a$$ car mode, the no-fun transformation, and the dang shoulder articulation, to name a few issues I have with it. Other than Sovereign, FT's season 3/movie Autobot have not been impressing me all that much. Hopefully their Jabber will at least be good.

what's up with the chin area. looks like somebody took an exacto knife and carved chunks out of it.

Only honest thing I like about it as that it has a functional cockpit that can actually house a figure inside.

 

Utterly ridiculous crotch thrusts aside I'm quite surprised at how good this looks. I'm just wary on mmc, not had the best track record of qc with them. Apache is starting to look over his shoulder.....

Loving the butterfly shoulder joints. Watching with interest! So is this coming before cartoon Sphynx?

 

Yeah, I was lucky in that my Sphinx was really good (and still is). I bought Backdraft and he arrived slathered in grease and with a broken part, but thankfuly Kapow replaced it. Didn't risk Hellion or Cosmos, but I'm definitely going in for this guy, as Apache just didnt do it for me.

Whoever takes and poses their photos - someone needs ot have a word as those crotch thrusts make the thing look ugly.

 

Why would they market this guy with th toon head? The face is way too wide. The toy head looks spot on and I really dig the harder edge on the top fin. X-Transbots better step up and show us theirs and price

 

To me mmc wins in bot mode and car mode. Copter mode I think its slightly inferior to unique toys. But its real close for me. I was not planning to do an mp 86 movie collection. MMC's Arcee and Springer have changed my mind. I hope they do the whole cast.

I will say that if you throw out G1 appearance that toy world figure looks very good in all 3 modes. Every mode looks proportionally correct and is one of the few triple changers that doesn't look like it sacrafices one mode for the other.
