This one looks the best, especially the car mode!!

 

I thought the proto looked good when I saw it at the Botfest. Yes some of the faces are naff, but I think it balances the three modes evenly and well, something not every 3P Springer does.

Funny; I can't stand Springer's character (close call between him and Iron "I talk all tough but can't do shit and got my head blown off by Megatron" Hide) but it's likely that I'll end up with multiple 3P Springers. Each one seems to have something I really like in one mode or the other.

 

Yeah; Toyworld's Springer is much more SOX-ey than Saltus. I bought TW cos he was going cheap and with some paint/sticker love he'll pretty much be SOX Springer.

 

Agree. I'd say in general, TW leans more OX than MMC. But especially their springer.

 

It's entirely a subjective criticism, but I feel that Apache's alt modes are bottom of the pack, particularly his car mode.

If pics aren't bothering you, I have little doubt the build quality on him will be up to F/T's usual high standards.

 

I agree Apache's car mode is among the weakest. It doesn't help that I think Springer's car mode looks dumb to begin with. But MMC's car mode looks the best IMO.

 

Yup. FT Springer seems to have a pretty good bot mode but the alt modes suffer quite badly. If I was made of money I'd consider FT Springer purely for bot - but I'm not, so it'll likely be TW (SOX, cheap), MMC (nice alts, decent enough bot) and/or XTB (nice bot, passable alts, probably reasonably-priced) depending on how rich I'm feeling.

That's probably the best Springer face sculpt yet. Liking this guy more every time there's a new development. Still say he's got the best car mode, even if it's not 100% toon accurate.

 

I've decided I care little for the car mode because except for brief moments in the movie and a few glimpses in some episodes he more often transformed into his helicopter mode IIRC.

 

Stupid (?) question: Is the metal-looking stuff on his chest and thighs......actually metal?

Diecast presumably. Lots of figures lately have been putting it in the chest and thighs. Not sure why since I would think the feet is where you would want extra weight for stability but I'm no engineer.

Yeah, it's diecast on chest, thighs, and feet.

On the chest and thighs, it looks like a plate on top of plastic, so it's not solid metal all the way through.

Man this one looks really good. Seeing this option it will be hard to pass on it. So far it looks the best to me.

 

Saltus needs to stop cosplaying as OX Springer in bot mode.
