A possible MMC Roadbuster would be nice for a true chunky representation of IDW Roadbuster. FP Roadbuster is much more G1 Dorvack for me with its overall blocky design, while Generations Voyager Roadbuster seems a mix between the two (too hollow and lanky for my tastes too).

I'm not sure but I thought one of MMCs comics showed/teased a character that a lot people speculated was DeathHead

Has someone suggested that this could be Strika?

To be fair, a lot of the designs shown at AA outside of the 3P panel were just ideas. The rodimus would be a remould/paint of Tarn which sounds odd but if you saw the designs it totally worked! Might be a bit bulky for IDW Rodimus but definitely a good Rodimus Prime. Again, it might just take a company to come along and pay for the designs rather than MMC devote time and resources to them.

The title of the thread makes it pretty clear this is all speculation, so I see no harm. Overall I'd see MMC going in a slightly different direction with Roadbuster- rather than simply as a repaint- but who knows. Overall I like the idea as the mold seems pretty intuitive, but I'm just not sure MMC would do this.

Tarn we know is since he's the most desired of the djd and they're already working on Vos and Kaon. MMC would be stupid to make just two of them and then suddenly decide to stop as each progressively releasing djd figure is going to get increased sales from the previous having come out, same way combiner figures end up selling/being successful - peoples desire to "complete the set".

Which is good because Helix and Tesarus are going to be the biggest and thus most expensive so people will more happily swallow those pills after having bought Vos/Kaon/Tarn.

Also thanks for the info Phoenix, I figured that's what happened. I wish Cassy was allowed to just post everything he's worked on online, dood must have an absolutely absurd amount of work designed and ready to be physically realized by now.

Why, the mold literally looks more like Roadbuster than it does Strika. If anything I'm surprised the strika version was shown first since the road one is going to sell better.

This seems to be their release policy. Show the sorta-fitting repaint first, then wow them with the actual use of the mold later. This avoids all the fan-boy whining of "that's just a crappy repaint!" when the second release is announced.

I just meant that if Strika comes first (which since MMC has yet to announce a Roadbuster but have announced Strika then she most likely does), I doubt MMC would simply repaint her and remake her into Roadbuster. MMC isn't KFC after all. :p  Not saying it won't happen. Just based on track record it seems unlikely to me.

Damnit! I just got Revolver Core today after having Riftshot and Recoiler for months. Now MMC has to make me question my pledge to buy all their products... *sigh* Let me just grab my ankles.

Isn't this what they did for their Spartan mold? They announced him as an obscure Decepticon, then announced the slight remold as Spartan/Impactor. KFC didn't invent remolding/recoloring. Most MMC molds that are not combiners get remolded (knight Morphers, Azalea, Spartan, etc).

MMC is just doing it the smart way and picking 2 or 4 designs from the same mold when it's in developent, rather than waiting till after the release and asking "well, what else can we make of it?"

But she already exists. She's the first version of this mold we're getting - , just so happens she's being made using a mold that is very obviously and specifically derived from Guidi's IDW Roadbuster.

I'm sure mmc will change some aspects of it - new chest plate, different head, different weapons etc between the two versions but why on earth would they make an entirely new mold for roadbuster or strika when they clearly have one that will work fine for both?

You say "they aren't kfc" which I get what you mean but they've got:

    - A Rampage being redone as Catilla
    - An Arcee being redone as Elita, Paramedic, Solus and an OC.
    - A Impactor figure being redone as Turmoil.

Plus all their other figures that are known to have alternate character versions - Shadowmaru and Greatshot based off Sixshot, Quickswitch based off Sixknight, Nemesis based off Nova, not to mention all their black redecos they will continue doing.

MMC is as guilty of mold reuse as any other company, they just aren't doing it as blatantly and lazily as most companies tend to. It helps that they seem to care about at least changing some parts and weapons and so on. So I have nothing against them doing this and its kinda silly to expect them to create new molds for every single character they do.
