IIRC someone stated there was a missing episode in the Beast Wars series. Something to do with Dinobot's clone being uploaded with the original's personality? What happened to it? Does anyone know why it was never made? I'm betting Kickback knows all about it.....
I believe it was called Dark Glass. :: goes to look for more :: There is a fan made comic of it http://www.genomestudios.com/thoughtcrimeinc/Dark%20Glass/Dark_Glass.htm From Beast Wars Wikipedia Page: The third season of the TV show was originally supposed to include an episode called "Dark Glass", written by Christy Marx. The script of the episode depicted an encounter between Rattrap and Dinobot II, where Rattrap finds that the datatracks of the original Dinobot in the ship's computer, and goes on a suicide mission to install it into the Transmetal 2 clone in a desperate bid to bring his old friend/foil back. However, the script was seen as "too dark" for little children to watch, and so the episode was never produced. A considerably lighter and more jocular episode called "Go with the Flow" was shown in its place. Transcripts of the episode survived, however, and it is now considered part of the Beast Wars continuity among fans, mainly for its explanation on how Dinobot II regained the original's personality after Rampage was destroyed at the end of Season 3.
really? i had never heard of this missing beastwars episode until now. i wish they would have produced it.
If your not familiar with the missing episode, I am sure, though assuming, you are not familiar with the missing scene either. There was a scene after the defeat of Megatron where they returned his spark to Megatron. I think the raw form of the clip might still be on bwtf.com
What I really wish for is that I could find the original script for Dark Glass...though it's probably locked up in the vault or in some box at Hasbro's Headquaters along with the Jazz Porshe Alternators proto, the Bumblebee Alt Proto, and the Transtech protos
It's not exactly a "lost episode", since it didn't make it past the script, considered "too dark" by Hasbro I heard. The episode "Go with the Flow" was made in it's place, which kinda explains the G1-esque plot and "what makes for happy friendly TV" commentary running through that episode.
I've heard about that, but where the heck is it? I checked all the menus on both discs and can't find it.
Interesting...I had never heard that either. That episode sounds like it would have been pretty good!
Darn I wish that episode had been produced instead of "Go with the flow". Still if that 3d comic is anywhere near the original script, then at least we know what would have happened in "Dark Glass".
It's an Easter Egg... Insert the second disc of the DVD set and from the main menu go to the "Episode Selections". Once there, go through the screens until you hit the one for the last episode. Now press the forward button once again to get to another screen, which holds information about a short clip you will be about to see. It is an animatic sequence that was designed for the final episode of the season.
I remember reading that Dark Glass comic awhile ago, but forgot where it was thanks for the link. Does anyone know if it followed the script at all or was it the artists' conception of it? The whole Nucleon thing was a nice tribute to the G1 comic, but it was never brought up in the series again, thats why I ask if it was in the script or just something the artist threw in for shits n' giggles.
I think the Nucleon reference in the fanstory was more of a fan-added hint of the virus in BM. Although I have no way of knowing for sure.
Well, I am sure the artist threw in some of his own personal touch. For example, the mention of a Lio Primal is in reference to the Beast Wars the Second movie where Optimus Primal appeared. Unfortunately, if you remember the storyline of that that crew is completely lost so if it was in continuity Lio Convoy/Primal would have never been able to call anyone to help his friend trapped in the past
