http://cgi.ebay.com/Very-Rare-Facto...ihZ017QQcategoryZ4696QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem It has the black boxes around the toy pictures on the front, which at first made me think it's the Chinese version. But look at the copyright/manufacturing text on the back of the box. "(C) Hasbro" is blacked out and the manufacturing text appears to be left as-is! Weird. And then the same guy has an Astrotrain where ALL of the copyright/manufacturing text is erased: http://cgi.ebay.com/Very-Rare-Facto...QrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262 If I had to guess, I'd say these are either: 1) The earliest of the 1989 Chinese toys, before they started altering the copyright/manufacturing text the normal way (keeping "(C) Hasbro" and getting rid of the Takara part and the manufacturing country) 2) A later run of the 1990s Chinese toys made without permission from Hasbro. And the seller claims his uncle bought them in Japan in 1985, which doesn't fit with either theory above, so I'm not inclined to believe it. Hmmm.
Dude !! I was going to pm you on these and ask you what you thought, but you beat me to it. Thanks bro
