One of my troops is deployed to Iraq and a bunch of us from the unit had to help his wife and kid vacate their house yesterday. Minot AFB is providing a lot of manpower support to the community. As we speak, the flood waters are about to spill over the built-up dikes around town. The expected crest will be several feet higher than the all-time record set in 1881 and the last catastrophic flood in 1969. The flood waters (due to water releases at dams further upstream) are expected to persist for several weeks. Please keep the Minot area in your thoughts over the next few days.
Josh called in from Moscow to KXMC's live coverage last night to pledge his support to the Minot area: YouTube - Josh Duhamel calls KXMC to pledge support for Minot‏
I've been keeping an eye on this because I've got relatives in Karlshrue (they're not in any danger). I've been to Minot many times over the years, and its strange seeing the water covering places I've been. I'm hoping that the water goes down fast, and the FU$%ing rain stops for a while.
It's always good to see when a hometown boy does good and stands by the community. Best of luck to you guys up there! Stay Safe!
They upped the amount of water being released from the dams and the forecasted crest. Maximum water height will be two feet higher than they originally thought. It's gone from bad to worse around here. Thanks for your support!
