RIGHT? It must have been today or yesterday, too, because it was pretty barren on Thursday. I was debating even buying another CoV set and selling it on ebay, but then I remembered I'm not a filthy scalper.
I thought now that Combiner Wars was past I'd be saving money, but looks like they are bringing it back! Very interesting if the Dinobots are also combiners. Getting them either way, but that introduces extra incentive. Also of course there would be a Titan Predaking because I literally just ordered (and was shipped) a Jinbao oversized Feral Rex last night, along with oversized Warbotron...
Don't sweat it... those OS Jinbao's will make you forget about all the other Bruticus and Predaking figures out there.
Everything I've read/seen they are amazing, doubly so for KO. Really like the combiners in general and watched too many Youtube videos with those guys so I finally dropped the hammer. Excited to have them be more in scale with MP/Devastator and massive! I suspect that after getting them the only thing I'll be sad about is that there is no oversized Superion, Menasor, etc to match them with.
That's where I'm at too. Of course, seeing Predaking and Abominus being added to the list of updated combiners and Elita-1 and Grimlock getting "teams" before...ahem... ....needless to say I'm still not sad I invested in Poseidon.
I mean, even if they do a 1p Piranacon, Poseidon is prolly one of the best 3p combiners, and he's just a damn fine realization of the characters. I'm just hoping that deluxes won't overall be a shitshow like CW. Yeah, the combiners were cool, but I felt like you needed those PE add-ons to make them work really well. Aside from that, I felt like there was a lot less compromise in TR in the deluxes and that the gimmick helped rather than hindered. I'm also worried Abominus will just be dinobot recolor/retools. I just hope after the trilogy ends they'll try to do something new rather than just recycling existing characters. Wouldn't it be cool if we got like a 1p Diabattles or Big Powered that were new characters? Heck, even something like Dai Atlas or Star Saber or more obscure characters. I feel like since the 1st movie line started, we're basically just getting slightly updated versions of the same bots over and over.
It's what sells. (Though given all the shelves filled with Bumblebees...) Aside from whatever new Transformers cartoon is on TV, G1 nostalgia keeps the non-movie Transformers stuff going for the most part it seems. And there always has to be a Bumblebee, an Optimus Prime, a Starscream, etc, etc... The popular characters always win out in toylines. I mean, they're obviously at the tail end of what was released in the G1 era now with Pretenders coming...all that is left is Action Masters and Micromasters, and I honestly don't think they'll do much more for that stuff than integrate things into the the normal toylines like with the recent TR Krok figure being a repaint/slight remold of Skullcruncher with those lines. They ARE at least dabbling into the Japanese G1 stuff more with characters like Overlord getting a figure. So I definitely could see Star Saber here in the future, but as to whether they'll go full blown into Japanese Transformers stuff...maybe? Depends on what they think people would buy. Otherwise I guess they'd...start over? Make more G2 stuff?
Yeah, I hear ya. I just think about how IDW has breathed life into old characters with new designs and added a lot of fun new characters too (Rung, Nautica, the DJD).
I was already going to have a hard time unloading this PMOP once I get my hands on Magnus Prime...now that totally not PMOP gets leaked and *makes flushing sound*
