So are we going to get any proper 3 pack minicon sets with classics? Because I'd kill to have a Reflector set, where the 3 minicons merge to form a digital camera.
We are getting new minicon 3 packs, but they're not Classics like the larger figures. They're not G1 characters, designs, etc. You can see some of them (first wave) here. More have been previewed elsewhere, including one set with a dragon that's pretty damn spiffy.
Do the classics have Minicon ports? I know not everyone like them, but I think it would be a nice touch.
Here are some pics of the upcoming wave: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS12745&mode=retail And scroll down for the just announced guys: http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/default.cfm?page=News/Item&newsID=F593986F-D56F-E112-495C782C4065A089
Astrotrain's gun has one, and the spot where Bumblebee's doors attach to his arm can be used as one, too. But they're not riddled with Minicon ports like Armada and later Cybertron figures.
Personally I'm tired of minicons...Armadas been over for years...let the damn things die. I have not purchased any of the minicons in the cybertron packaging.
Sorry you don't like them. I have purchased three sets of each minicon group released in Cybertron, including the two packs. I think they're brilliant, and am sad that they seem to be disappearing after these next few packs. Certainly the least intrusive gimmick in the history of the franchise, and a fun sub-line.
I agree - they made a lot more sense than a cyber planet key that magically appears out of nowhere. I wish that different Minicons created different powers in their larger bots - like Skywarp's Minicon could have given him the ability to teleport. That's how I would use them anyway.
When are the Classics mini-cons going to show up, anyways? I thought they'd be out with the first wave Classics, but nothing yet.
I used to have a big sheet i wrote up that had what ability certain minicons imparted on their user and then the partners did something special with their big guy. For example Mirage gave ability to use invisability, Land attack teams generally boost firepower, and airplanes give ability to fly. When all land attack teams used, then there is major firepower increase...stuff like that. Ill see if I can find it and post it if anyone wants to see it and critique/add to it.
I would like to see it. I like the idea of the mini cons doing more the expanding weapons. Adding skills and talents are great ideas as well
I'm pretty worn out on the whole minicon gimmick at this point but a Reflector set would be nice and some of the Classics ones have very nice alt modes.
Just because Armada was cluttered with Minicons and gimmicks doesn't mean they have to die out... Personally I love Minicons, and the Classics sets are all really nice so far and being so small it keeps them seperate from the larger, G1 based figures. Plus I like smaller Transformers, and three in one pack is great for me. Just because they were a gimmick in one line doesn't mean you cant enjoy them for what they're for. And personally, planet keys by story are a fraction of Primus's spark which makes a hell of a lot more sense to me as far as being power boosts go than Minicons. A little Transformer gets glued to their arm, and that makes what sense as a power-up? Especially considering they came from Unicron, there's no basis to that working.
That made me laugh for some reason. Imagine Hasbro trying to recreate that in toy form.... "We're gonna make it teleport. Back to us! So we can sell it again!"
The idea of making Reflector out of Minicons is brilliant. Hope Hasbro sees that and incorporates it somewhere later down the line.
I would like to see minicons that act like headmaster/targetmaster I miss that gimmick for some reason.
It's a brilliant idea for fan-wank, but not so much in a marketing sense. Look at other Mini-Cons that have combined: - Star Saber (three jets form a sword) - Requiem Blaster (three space-related vehicles form a gun) - Skyboom Shield (three vehicles form a shield) Each one of those combiner teams form a weapon or accessory that any larger Transformer can use. A camera? That'll go over with marketing as well as Classics Cosmos did (not very well). Unless you made it a WORKING camera. But the problem with that is cost and that it would be more of a movie line toy. And larger sized.
