alright, I'm happy to say I am very pleased with how this turned out. again, nothing original here, and this is, I believe, a 100% copy of ceerad's. I wanted to avoid falling into the trap of saying "oh look, it's a hovercraft, must be a seaspray homage" etc, but once seeing his, I thought it just looked so good. no toilet mode for this guy :)  just one more to go (powerglide) and I'll have all of the '85 minibots done (waiting for the titanium cosmos). hope ya'll like, and as always, critiques and comments are appreciated.

this project actually came to me when I heard that this year's botcon package was going to be classics oriented. I thought that somehow the scouts from cybertron would get repainted. then I figured out how much it would cost to get them at the show, and decided to make my own. I guess it's a good thing I did, since unless some end up as attendee exclusives, these guys will never seen an official release.

Whoa! Awesome! I bought Shortround a few months ago hoping I'd do my first repaint ever to make him Seaspray. Looks like I have even more inspiration now.

Excellent job. You stayed true, with your paint additions, to the origonal color placement. The only thing I can find a little fault with, is the copper/brass paint that came with the figure. Not a complaint, just pointing out the difference in color to the origonal Seaspray.

the yellow paint gives the impression of it being really thick but I think it is just the flat finish. Excellent job. keep-em coming.

yup, flat paint. I actually really like it, although it kinda clashes/stands out against the gloss blue. most of my other repaints I've had to clear coat because the paint was so weak, so I was glad to not have to with this one.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but just found this in my Shortround search.

What type of paint did you use? I was going to do this but Testors enamel yellow does'nt want to stick to mine.

I also like that blue, which looks alot better than the dark blue I was going to use.

Awesome job btw, you did him right

the blue is tamiya's sky blue, and the yellow was testors model masters insignia yellow. both were acrylics. glad you liked him, and where you been lately, cm? busy with the little ones?
